I was really wondering hard why suddenly some of my friend's topics were deleted, and so I asked my hubby how come, and he asked me what are those topic, oh well one example is when a friend ask which do you prefer and he quoted two chocolate famous brand, my hubby said that it is a violation because it will seem like a survey, it speaks of a brand name, and so I asked him, why topics that says they love this certain soda brand or certain product were not deleted and he say when you compare two branded products it is as if you are making a survey and it is like inciting competition. And then I wonder, in my interest of places where I live, I saw some discussions where they compare two giant food establishment here, but then again my hubby (which is very witty, intelligent and everything, I am so lucky I have him, I get most of my topics from him)that those establishments mentioned, the one is not famous on world wide consumption, he said try comparing fast food Mc and fast food KF (ok you guys you know what I mean, I don't want my topic to be deleted)
I just want to share this, so in the near future discussion deletion may be prevented.
I need also your insights guys.

I've actually never had a discussion deleted yet, but then again I don't write a lot of them. Try to write open ended questions that you can write a lot to. If you just write "Which is better?" it will be a one word answer. Ask something like "What do you prefer in a fast food restaurant?" and then you go on to tell your preferences, maybe about how you're concerned about health, low prices, etc.

Yeah they are pretty strict on the rules, but I still notice some that don't violate get deleted and it's because they delete reported discussions without checking them for themselves. They really need a panel to sift through reports and check out the discussions for validity instead of just deleting them. If yours gets deleted, I'd say just shrug it off and move on because it happens even to the seasoned members.

Well seems that mylot has a lot of rules and I know I can never remember all of them. I know there has been discussions comparing brand X with Brand Z or it seems so but did not know it was against the rules. But mostly think it is just in the reporting of such. Or Mylot happens to be following a discussion at a particular time and deletes it.

Some discussions are deleted not because they really violate the rules of mylot.. But rather, it's someone who causes the whole discussion to be deleted by reporting as something bad, and being giving alot of negative to the whole discussion, thus it will be deleted ^_^ hehe
BUt for discussions like comparing of food, so far i have not seen any being deleted, and maybe it's like what your hubby have said, they are just small companies which dun matters much.. haha

hi pehpot I think that if we all would reread the rules of'mylot we would not have many discussions deleted. It seems a lot
of us do not pay much attention to mylot rules, then cry
'when our discussions get deleted. The ones on milestones for
one thing, so many make brag discussions on milestones and
then wonder why the discussions were deleted. well read the
darned rules, its in there so read it and dont do discussions
on some milestone you wish to share, as it will just be deleted and anyone who responded will also lose points.

I think I know what that my friend. I am also wondering why his discussions were deleted? I don't think it's because it speaks of brand names. I've seen similar almost the same type of discussions talking of brand names as well but they were not deleted. Anyway, whatever is the reason, I think we just have to be careful and learn from all those experiences. It's sad to have your discussions deleted.
