What was popular when you were growing up. FOr me it was roller skates that looked like sneakers, shiny disco pocketbooks and clothes. They had albums and cassettes were big too. I grew up in the 70's and 80's. The only technology we had was the Atari video system. I LOVED THAT! Kissing Potion lip gloss had just come out by Mabeline. I loved the mint. As for clothes, When I was in elementary it was courdoroys and earth shoes. When I got to middle and high school it was the Michael Jackson Thriller jackets for all!! I was such a cornball!!! Michael Jackson was the biggest star in the world! It seems like yesterday. Now the things my daughter asks for are nothing like the things I liked. I wish things were still like that. WHat about you? What was it like when you were younger?

when i was young,i often came to the small and illegal game center to play game,i like to try the fighting game, but there were many people play it and they looked very strong! so i play the gamble game instead,i know how to play it,but i don't know the secret of win,i often lost, but still feel good, one day,i won 22 coins suddenly,my friend was cheering for the win.so all the people know it,many people came to me,and ask for coin,i share some and quickly leave,i was 10 ages or less at that time, when i arrival home i took some coins to my friend but he didn't want it,it make me feel bored and threw all coins to the pool.

Its good to know that sharing was popular in every decade. I wish I had a friend like you. Its so hard to find someone at that age to share willingly. Your parents raised you well. Thanks for sharing. Happy MyLotting. dl

Friendship bracelets, Kirk Cameron from Growing Pains, jelly shoes, all those were popular when I was growing up. I was born in 1981, so those are some of my memories. Full House and The Cosby Show were big, especially The Cosby Show. Back then the Olsen twins were even still innocent! And I'm pretty sure Super Mario Brothers were all the rage, lol.

Children were fond of skipping when I was young. Also, we used to play hide and seek. Hongkong knight dramas were very popular. Now, I don't wanna watch them anymore. On the other hand, I will pay more attention to Grey's anatomy, house, and the like. By the way, I lost my interest in Prison Break. Oh, sorry, it has nothing to do with the topic.

Skipping was fun. We liked hopscotch and jax. I loved to color. I still do. When I was recently sick in bed my husband bought me a brand new box of 96 crayons and a great book. I dont like to get into any television show where it becomes a must to watch. If you miss one you lose the whole story line. I have a busy schedule and I am afraid I would be lost in the first month. I started to watch prison break when it began. I missed a few shows due to work. When I went to watch it the other day, I had no clue what had happened. THey were escaping from yet another prison. I was so confused. They are cute though. lol. thanks for responding my friend. dl

New Kids on the Block grew up in Boston. I live 20 miles from there. New Edition also grew up in Boston. I went to a party they had years back when I was in high school. I knew them well. I didnt know any of the new kids personally. I love the new song the New Kids on the Block just put out "SIngle" Have you heard it? I still have all my disney VHS movies. I dont want to throw them away. I still have a VCR. My husband is from Puerto Rico and hadnt seen alot of the movies from Disney. Occasionally, I set up the VCR and we watch them. It takes me back. Thanks for sharing. dl

SHort and sweet. Right to the point. I would have loved to have grown up with Elvis. I have always wished that those skirts would come back in style. You were so lucky to have gotten to wear the real thing. I am assuming an Lps is a record like and album. Am I right? I dont know what the eps is though. It has to be similar. When I read your response the picture that came to my mind was the opening scene from the movie " GREASE" at the school, Rydell High. Oh and if you didnt guess Grease was one of my favorite movies growing up. THanks for sharing and Happy MyLotting. dl

When I was just a kid, Levi jeans were in style. I always wanted to have a pair of them because alot of kids had them and they looked nice on them. I finally got me a pair because they were expensive back then. I wore them daily and washed them daily LOL.

I had hundreds of them. We wore them on our shoelaces in sneakers. Ahh what memories!!THanks friend.dl

Child of the nineties, here, man. I still love the music from around that decade the most. Letsee...POP became the next thing, music genre wise around then, I believe? Sneakers like converses were pretty big. Jean jackets. Bottle caps, I think haha! Technology began getting better for SCIFI and horror movies too, so they became more hot stuff. So all in all, not that much different nowadays! It's all just more refined now. I never actually liked most of the popular things, actually. Well, jean jackets. I own two, lol.

I grew up in the fifties and sixties....we had peddle pushers and saddle shoes. Also poodle skirts. My parents owned a general store type business and I got one of the first ski coats and stirup pants....I was so cool. I loved music. So enjoyed Elvis.....the Beetles..alot of those groups. I lived in a small town so all of us hung out together....one of the stupid things we did was try to hold our breath for so long....then pant for a couple of minutes then pass out! Yup...real smart! We had drivein theaters......roller rinks and did alot of ice skating.

poodle skirts with lots of pettycoats, boy were they hard to keep up, all that hand washing. For those who don't know a poodle skirt was more then a circle wide and the pettycoats that made it stand out, it also made it hard to sit down in. But I really loved the feel of all that fabric when you walked. And a little sway in the hip made it even better. HAH

in my opinion, i think Internet is the popular when i were a kid. the first reason that i want to say is that i can surf on the Internet and find a lot of useful information for my term paper. And i think Internet has made our lives more convenient. in addition, when i study on the Internet i will save a lot of time, because it is very convenient to calculate and analyze date and searcher for information. i believe that Internet has dramatically improve that quality of our lives and everything could be done on the Internet which has make the pace of life faster than even.

I do see the usefulness in the internet. I would only hope there is something else that interests you just as much or maybe more. I was looking for icons, or sneakers or something every one had to have. I do thing you have a point with the internet. I just think that every since it came to be we have focused on nothing but. I try to keep other things as important. dl

I am much older than you, for me it was go go boots and fishnet stockings, the mini dress came in for the first time, skinny models became the style, the beetles, the rolling stones, then disco, and corduroy pants and bell bottoms.

hmm, not quite remembered the things that were popular when I was a kid however, the popular things when I was around 13 or in my high school days were tamagotchi or digital pets, family computer, SNES or Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Windows 95 and I think some computer games like counter strike. That's what I remember now, I kinda forgot the other things that was quite popular when I was a kid.
