Popeye's vs. KFC

Which chain is better? I prefer Popeye's. I'm not a fan of the secret herbs n' spices from KFC. My mom liked KFC so if we ever had take away chicken she'd buy KFC. I think at one point I did like the soft skin on the original KFC chicken but I like crunchy better. I think fried chicken should have crunchy skin. Anything else is like a roasted chicken. Even the crunchy chicken at KFC isn't as good as Popeye's. I do love the potato wedges at KFC. Although I haven't had any in ages, that's the only reason I'd go there. The cajun fries from Popeye's are really good too and their gravy is so yummy. It's not that boring stuff you find at KFC. If you've ever been to Chicago there's a place called Harold's Chicken which is known for its fried chicken. It is quite delicious but is more like a homemade fried chicken than the fast food styles of KFC or Popeye's. Any other favourites out there? Brown's? Church's?

Wow. In my initial response to your comment, I was going to ask if the chicken was halal because I wasn't sure if Arabian Fried Chicken was just a name. But now that I know where you are, I KNOW it's halal :D MMM...crunchy skin...

It really depends on which country you are in I guess. On top of it, the branch (different franchise) plays a part too. In Singapore, the standards of KFC has been dropping over the years. The meat is not as tender as before and it had shrunk by a lot over the years, by that, I meant the size. As for Popeye's, there is only 3 branches in Singapore only, but they are better in terms of quality of the food. And the fries is way better than KFC. Coleslaw as well! So overall, I like Popeye's more!

Hello! No I've not been to the States and/or English. The first branch was opened a long long long time ago at the Changi International Airport (Terminal 1). When Terminal 3 open recently, another franchisee open the second Popeye's over there. The newly build Singapore Flyer's (The tallest observation wheel in the world), they had another branch opened there, but I am not sure if it's under any of the franchisee. Well, different country serve different stuff to cater to the "local taste" as well. Cajun fries from Popeye's here is definitely much much much better than KFC's fries. As for the Chicken, Popeye's wins for sure (over here of course). The mash potatoes from popeye's taste nice even without the sauce, unlike KFC which taste like nothing. Now we come to coleslaw, I prefer the ones from Popeye's.Let's not go the the yummy-licious biscuits and jam (which goes perfectly by the way) that Popeye's have. Hence, I declare Popeye's the winner! Damn, now I am hungry! And there's no Popeye's near me! Sighhh

Wow! I had no idea there would be a Popeye's in Singapore, let alone 3!! Are you from Singapore? Ever been to England or the States? I know the availability to either franchise depends on your location. KFC is definitely a bigger franchise than Popeye's so more people will be familiar with KFC. I like the flavouring on the Popeye's chicken more than the KFC chicken. Popeye's offers spicy or mild but I always go for the mild. The gravy for their mashed potatoes is delicious. I've never had gravy like that even at a real restaurant. And their cajun fries are so good but I also really liked the potato wedges from KFC. That's a close one. Not sure which I prefer when it comes to the fries. Hmmmmm...

Of the 2 I pick KFC. For one they are closer. For another they offer better coupons. And in these times you do like to go out once in a while. And still be able to save some cash. Popeyes can be too spicy for me.

I have never heard of Popeye's when it comes to fast food, but I have heard of KFC and I think they have really good chicken, whenever we get chicken we always get it from KFC's and my brother used to work at KFC so I would go up there and get something to eat, since he could give me a discount, and I would eat while I waited for him to get off work, and whenever I was there I always got the two piece leg and thigh meal with macaroni and cheese, which is really good, and the only chicken I will eat is the original recipe.

I love both restaurants and both types of chicken, because I love chicken in every form that I have tried so far.

I dont know how to choose. I like them both. But i think different country's KFC and Popeye's taste different. But i prefer KFC's coleslaw. The chicken on both sides taste not bad. I guess i am not a expert in fast food.

KFC's is the only chicken chain we have in this relatively small town, therefore I cannot tell you if I have a preference between it and Popeyes. I do however prefer Arby's to KFC. I like the way they shave the roast beef, and the mocha milk shakes are to die for.
