What is wrong with TV today that they can't promote something without filling the screen with half naked bodies? I wrote an email to Animal Planet some time ago because of the scenes in the show called 'Miami Animal Police.' Since the show is based in Miami, they think it's appropriate to show people sunbathing and walking on the beach with next to nothing flashing across the screen, on a show about saving animals for goodness sake! I realize that you see that sort of thing at the beach, but the show isn't about the beach - it is about animal cruelty and saving animals. A half naked woman prancing her butt all over the screen takes away from the show, not add to it (I know most of the men will disagree, but tough. There are other places for you to look at that, it doesn't need to be on Animal Planet). So today I flip the channels to see what's on HGTV - the Home and Gardening network. What's on right now? Househunters, a show about people searching for a home to buy and the realtor helps them narrow it down to three choices and they pick one and everyone is happy. Ok, nothing wrong with that, right? I've watched that show dozens and dozens of times and it's pretty basic. Well today's show is based in Dallas, so they have the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders swaying their hips in between scenes - what's up with that? What does this have to do with someone buying a house? I'm hot - and I'm writing another letter. It might not do any good, but how does that saying go? 'All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.'

Good for you ldy, this is why I don't watch much TV other than a few shows a week, because they bombard you with things they shouldn't..And the problem isn't just men, I am sure if a survey was taken, women also want to see it, though not as many as men, but they are there, don't caring that the airwaves are being polluted and with children watching too..

It just makes no sense to me. At least in a drama it can be fit into the story line, but come on! Animal Planet and HGTV?

I seen that we watch that show occasionally. I don't know they think they have to do that, maybe they think that they are giving us glimpses of the places they are shooting from. It is not necessary to see it some enjoy it my husband does but I don't so maybe it is a male based production that runs it.

I don't know what to tell you. That seem's to be the way they are doing thing's these day's. They are trying to keep the men in front of the TV. That is what I think and from what I see here at my house it work's. So that is what I think. But maybe they are trying to show come here for a vac. or something. Maybe you should just stop watching TV. I don't watch that much at all. I have to listen to it and I don't like that. I mean my roommate is watching Morrie right now. Are you the Daddy. are you the father. with alot of other words. can't say here. So yes I don't even watch it that much at all. Your friend onlydia. Keep the faith

I don't understand why producers, directors, etc. of such shows have decided to show barely clothed men and women. It is unnecessary for that to be seen in the shows you mention. I don't watch tv much anymore, but when I do, I want to watch shows that educational and informative and not see someone's rear nearly falling out of a bikini bottom.

I agree with you. I have small children that sometimes watch these same programs that are supposed to be relatively " harmless" with me. I am sometimes forced to change the channel because of certain things being shown that should not.

did you ever get an answer from animal planet, although I see you point loud and clear, do they care about what the viewers think is the million dollar question for me.

Oh well it is your right to air your concerns over certain TV shows which you find disgusting or out of your taste. But doing your own crusade is a hard thing to do. If I were you you join a group with the same objective and belief so that your letter would be more noticed by the concerned party. If you have a church group you may air your concerns about it. Or maybe so if there is a local movie or TV censor board where you can air your concern then maybe that would be effective enough that your voice may be heard. A concerted effort of a group is much better and effective than an individual move to achieve something you like.

I believe it's called "giving the people what they want," Ldyjarhead! I agree it doesn't say much about the taste of those people, but the final product is a result of what they think people want to see on their TV screens. I know of at least one organization that supports decency in TV viewing but it doesn't seem that they have been too effective. It used to be that you could sit back with your family and enjoy most any show on TV, but those days are a thing of the past these days.

You are on a roll lady! What's up, you just now starting to watch TV? LOL Seriously, I agree with you totally. Such a superficial load of crap going on, and getting worse! Good looks sell, bad people sell, big b00bs sell, PEEING SELLS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! You know it's all about the dollar. Greed at it's finest! Write your letter!!! My hubby just loves the old saying, A man who stands for NOTHING will FALL for anything.

Subliminal messaging! I heard that a man [no offense, dudes!] have this instinct to satisfy. They get all revved from seeing sexy ladies, and it makes them want to make themselves feel good, something like that. So when the commercials come, it puts them in a buying mood, I guess. It gets their attention so they'll donate to help the poor doggies. I'm not really upset about this, but I'm kind of offended that everything is so sexist. How come they don't have hot men? Well, they did have Mario Lopez hosting Pet Star, but maybe he just likes dogs and just wanted to host it.

I so know what you mean. I hate when they do the Dallas location and have the chearleaders on there. What does that have to do with choosing houses? I hate all that stuff. It is just a bunch of junk. I want to sit down and watch a decent show without having to have blatant se* stuff shoved at me. What it boils down to is saying that men are so stupid they feel the need to throw scantily clad women in there just to get thier limited attention. A bunch of bunk.

That explains why I do not watch television. That, and I cannot afford the cable bill. You are correct, though, too many things are sprinkled throughout with bodies, and bad language. I can do without both of them. I hope you get some results.

So true! It's on every network and just about any kind of show. TV in general is just going down the toilet. I applaud you for taking the time to write letters to the network. We should all join forces. Voices in quantity will be heard :)

I feel like everything now days is full of things that my kids should not be exposed to. It is really bugging me as well. I want to have the Tv still but I feel like I cant since my kids are the age where they want to watch a lot of TV. We had to take the TV out of the front room so they can only watch the TV we have by our room. It is only a matter of time until we cant have the TV at all.

Edmund Burke, great quote, and so true. I've resorted to not watching television anymore. I see all sorts of crap that has nothing to do with the show and yet they think it will promote it. If you have to parade naked people on a show other than Dr. 90210 then you've suck to the bottom of the barrel. I haven't written any letters like you, but I boycott the products and don't watch the show. Money talks and B.S. runs a marathon.

Hi Ldyjarhead, You and I think alike, i can't stand all those things on our programmes either, like I mentioned before about tv adverts with naked bodies in most adverts, its disgusting. Tamara
