hello all of my good friends here at Mylot. have you-all ever heard of chocolate trail mix? oh my gosh you-all! i made a big batch of it up today, and it was so delicious! it had crispix cereal, chocolate chips, butter and a jar of nutella in it! plus powdered sugar and cocoa powder for the dusting of the chocolate trail mix to keep it from sticking together! so tell me, have you ever tried any chocolate trail mix before? if so, what did you think about it? thanks for sharing and have a beautiful evening.

hello howard yes, the chocolate covered trail mix was delicious and no, it didn't take long at all to make. just long enough to melt the chocolate, butter and the nutella. lol then you pour that over the cereal toss it to coat, then sprinkle it with powdered sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder. yum. no baking was required to it. thanks so much for responding.

btw, the nutella and the cereal was the most expensive two ingredients that were in the trail mix.

My daughter had a small bag of something like that when she come to visit before and I thought it was pretty good. With any trail mix though my favorite things are the cereal's. LOL

What you're making sounds delicious..and very rich too with the sugar, butter and a whole jar of nutella in the mix. I have not made such a chocolate trail mix before, but if you care to ship some over to me, I'd gladly try it. Ok, I'm now salivating, like a dog. If I had a tail, it would be wagging too!!

I have been wondering about that Nutella I have never tried it before. what does it taste like straight form the jar? We use to have a recipe for something called Puppy Chow. It was very good!

hello louise oh my gosh! run to the grocery store this morning and buy you a jar of that nutella, it is located near the peanut butter in the grocery stores. it tastes just like smooth chocolate. oh it is good. it was $3.59 a jar, it is a bit expensive and so was the crispix, but kroger's had the cereal on sell yesterday thou which helped out some in making it. and this trail mix with the nutella in it was loads better than the regular puppy chow mix. try it using the nutella. thanks so much for responding.

I have eaten trail mix and it's great. I prefer the mix with raisins and m & m's along with the cereal and nuts. I think it's the salty combination along with the sweet that is so good. It's the kind of treat that I need to be careful eating because I don't know when to quit.

I should look this recipe up. I make cereal trail mixes for my son for his school lunch box. It is to expensive to buy snacks for the lunches every day so I make what I can. This sounds like a recipe that you could swap in things and make it go further too. Sounds great. Thank you for the heads up.

Yeah I have heard of it before. Yours is different from the recipes I have seen and it is usually called "Puppy Chow" I've been meaning to try it for a long time and still haven't gotten around to it. Maybe I'll whip up some for Halloween and save the white chocolate gorp for Christmas

I make puppy chow sometimes. Mine has butter, peanut butter, vanilla, and chocolate melted and tossed on the cereal and then coated in powdered sugar.

i have tried something simelar. The combination of sweet and salty is more addictive than almost any other snack. It works for puppy chow, Take five candy bars and spouse Like A House Ice cream.(vanilla with chunks of chocoalate, pretzel, peanuts and other salty crunchis I can't resist.)
