Money is not important ?

Dear mylot members ^^ Today I heard someone saying that money is not important. He said he could easily live without it. This got me thinking.. I realize that a lot of people say money isn't that important. Though I think it is very important in life. Everything has something to do with money, perhaps in some places of the world money isn't important, but in the more economic-based states or parts of the world it is very important. What do you think ? Could you live without money ? Thanks and have a nice day ;)

There are two ways to get along without money. One is to be totally dependent on someone who has money. The other way is to use the barter system. The first is unthinkable and the second is impractical. The last time I checked, the electric company would not allow me to work off my utility bill. I might try to live in a cave without electricity or running water, if I owned a piece of land with a cave. Then, there would be taxes to pay on that land. I'm sure the state would not let me work off my tax bill. Without money to pay taxes, my cave would be confiscated, and I'd be homeless. I'd either have to steal to eat or go back to number one and become dependent on some one (or an organization) with money.

My previous post was assuming that it was meant that one could get along with zero money. It seems that in this country, one cannot. That does not mean that one has to have a lot of money.

I could live without money but I couldn't function without it. Money makes the world go round, or it can stop it with a screaming halt.

Hi. I don't worship money, and I am aware that the correct biblical quote is, "The love of money is the root of all evil." But I know that I couldn't live without money, and don't even want to really think about trying not to The person that you heard saying that they can live without money, I bet that they never have. Anybody with any type of sense knows and well that that is impossible to do. Even the homeless are aware of that fact. Why does he think that they ask for it, beg for it, or try to sell things for it. And all know how little their living expenses are. Not being mean, I'm just saying that they don't have light, gas, rent, and food bills among other things to pay. And they still know that they want and need actual cash.

It would be hard to actually live without money. Money may not be the most important thing in life, but it is an important thing unless you live in the hills somewhere with a pack of wolves for friends.

well, i won't say money is not important because for our daily expenses, we need money... and in the genaration now, everything also need to pay.. so money is important but we have to know the limit on using money or earning money... don't be the puppet of the money.. well, we can't live without money but we must be clever in using money...

In this society, you can't live without money. But I do believe that money can't buy happiness or health. You can be rich and unhappy, or rich and sick. On the other hand, if you are unhappy and rich it is easier to find help and/or the means to ease the suffering. Same thing if you are rich and sick. If you have money, it is much easier to get better medical care or the means to ease the suffering. In the end, though, money can't buy health.

i could live without money.. for a short time. lack of housing (that needs to be paid for) lack of nutrition (that needs to be paid for) lack of clothing (which needs to be paid for) lack of medical attention when needed (which needs to be paid for) would all eventually lead to my demise. while money isnt the be all end all ruler of my life, there are bare necessities to survival as those aforementioned, that require the useage of finance in order to attain. so unless this person you heard saying this, has somehow managed to gain property, shelter, food supplies, and body coverings for the span of his lifetime.. hes full of crap.

A person could possibly exist without money ,and possibly have a happy existence .There are different means of surviving besides embracing our present monetary system .A person might live off the land or might mooch off of others .Another thing that they might do is that they might live off of the government .The only ethical one of these methods of living without money would be living off the land ,providing that it is not trespassing on private property .A person would have to be very resourceful.

Well, I guess if you do not mind not eating, or have a roof over your head, or running around unclothed, you could probably live without money. Those are the basics that we need to survive daily. I would not like to have to live on the streets or go hungry or be without clothing, so I guess I need money to live.

I suppose there are places in the world where the barter system works, but you would need something to barter with. I'd rather use money - it's easier.

Money is important. If someone said that it wasn't, then that person must not have to worry about it. Wouldn't that be nice if nobody had to worry about it? If someone didn't have money, how would they live? How would they eat or survive? Money is important no matter how you look at it unless you had the luxury of someone paying all your bills for you. Money is even more important to our family now since there isn't enough to go around and we have to play catch up all the time putting things off. Not only do we have bills and rent that needs to be paid, we also need to eat and my kids need clothes on thier back. So yeah, money is important to me but being rich is not important to me. It's important that we have enough to survive and have a little extra hanging around. It wuold be nice to be able to have some sort of savings in case something happens but as long as we have enough, I am happy.

Someone asked me once why I work two jobs. They said, money doesn't buy happiness and I replied "That's true, money doesn't buy happiness, but happiness doesn't pay my bills". So I would have to say that money is extremely important, espically when you have mouths to feed, but it isn't everything.

I think all mylot members are money-minded already or somehow. To me, money is definitely important. I honestyly think I cannot live without it. Even if your family is loaded, once bankrupt, the family will have a hard time surviving too. Money is the root of all evil but I also think that money is the source of happiness in life too.

Unless you are living on some boat that uses the wind to travel, and you have the means to grow food on this vessel, I do not think it is possible. Even just living on a piece of land, you have to pay taxes for it. And governments do not accept anything other than money in payments due to them for taxes. Assuming you do not have to pay taxes, how about utilities? Water? Electricity? Toilet amentities? Garbage collection? To say you totally do not need money to survive, it is impossible in my opinion if you are living in a city. Maybe you can ask your friend how it is going to be done? Then share it with us so we can all learn from him.

I'm so sorry for coming in so late. I think, this is the thinking of those who have lots of money with them.Better to ask this question to a broke, homeless, starving person to know about the real value of money.

I believe that money plays a big part of life, it would be nice to think that we could live without it, but its impossible to do. Like you said, everything has something to do with money, we can't get by without having and using for things we need. If we lived without money, then I think there would be alot more homeless people on the streets, we'd all be homeless, we wouldn't have money to pay for our homes, and food and stuff like that.

Those who say money is not important they might have lots of it but for those who need it, it is very important for them to survive.Buy food, pay bills and educate their children.Basically,we need money for survival and sometimes it gives us power. But it doesn't mean it rule over our lives. We should consider it as a material thing that never last forever.

Hi there.,I also find people saying such things. But after some time,I find the same person asking for money. He says "I desperately need money, for me its very important now".I never agree that money is not important in todays life.We cannot get anything for free,we have to work to get anything. And we do anything to get money. We can live without money,by only one means thats begging. No one will give us even a single cent, for free. But,Money doesn't give every thing like love and life.It is said that,"We come into this world with empty hands and we leave this world with empty hands",thats really true.Even if we have billions of money we need only 6*3 feet of land when we die.The worst thing that money can do is,some times it makes people kill each other. In my opinion money is important, but it should be given the least priority in life.
