Do You Believe Everything That is Reported On the Internet?

I read different discussions claiming water is good for you, others that it is poisonous for you, that drinking water with meals is horribly bad for you, that drinking water with meals is good for you, and all tout some internet article they read as the gospel truth? Myself I read all these then do some checking, and go on snopes to see for myself and in a lot of cases thereis some truth and a lot of untruth. So do you just buy the first article you read about some food or drink being extremely good or bad for you or do you also do some researching for yourself?

I don't believe everything I read, no matter where I read it. But, I also don't pay any attention to things that talk about foods that are good or bad as I really don't care. I eat whatever I want to and it hasn't killed me yet. Wonder how we managed to live so long without worrying about what we put in our mouths, or, for that matter, sometimes not even knowing what it was made of

hi fwidman you know that remark is one I was making in my head. heck I am 82 and I managed to live all this time without worrying about how much water I drink orwhat myfood was composed of. But now of course as a diabetic I have to be more picky but I do not buy into all these different horror stories as I like to know the real truth. I think good old common sense should rule us anyway.

Common sense works for me Yes, you need to be a bit careful of what you eat and drink. Me, I am just a garbage disposal

one yr later fwidman the more silly stuff comes on the internet now it seems that you are not supposed to drink cold or ice water with meals w ell all I can say is cow patties to that. I intend to drink ice water with mymeals when its hot like it is now and no silly news itemn on the net is going to stop me. Also I try to get eight to ten glasses of wat er down every day as mydoctor ordered and now some other outlandish net thing says you really dont need all that water.well pardon me but I listen to my doctor. thank you very much

Hi Hatley, Honestly, I easily believed about articles that I am reading on the internet but experienced as well as conversation with friends make me more open about researching more before relying on information I am getting online!

hi checapricorn one yr later we still need to research all the' wild claims that are made on the net. using reliable sites to ' research those claims we soon find out whether or not they are true or false. sometimes just made to make us buy the product simply to line their pocketsk not to help your health one bit.

i do read some health advisories its my favorite article in the net...my attention is usually caught on this type of thing...no i dont research just read and compare notes among my friends and ask them what they think of this one or do they believe on it...and my personal judgement on some information which i do believe in..

hi vanities one yr later.we still should really research wild'claims by using a reliabel site. often it will disprove a claim made by an unQualified person about some so called health product that'not only doesnt do you any good but just takes your money for nothing. it is wise to check this stuff before you buy instead of afterwards.

Regarding articles on food and drink, I pretty much ignore them all! I know that a variety of foods in combination is what's best for me, and as I suffer from no health conditions I figure that I can eat a little of everything with no ill effects. The internet will tell you five different answers for every question you ask. I think you need to read a variety of articles and research yourself if you want a 'true' answer.

higreenmoo one yr later you still have to research before'taking any wild claims forgranted. use a reliable site and you will often find'that the wild claim is just that, wild made by a person who'is unqualified to make such stupid claims. often done strictly to make money from innocent people who want to be healthier and all it does is just take money from you.

Oh my if we believe everything here on the internet, we wouldn't have to worry about dying from whatever the article was about, but probally have a heart attack from the stress of worrying about it all. I take it all with a grain of salt and try to use common sense. Its funny that supposedly everything will kill either from too much or not enough. For everything that used to be okay, now will kill you. All I know is that my great grandmother lived to be over a 100 years old and my grandmother is now 87 and gets around better than most of her great grandkids and they just lived and let live with no warnings.

hji relundad one yr later. we still must not believe all that we see on the net.use reliable sites to check out wild claims'that to us do not seem to make any sense. using common sense and research we'can usually find out what is true and what is not true at all and is a ploy to make you buy something you dont need.

I don't trust the media in any form. It seems like their is always a contradicting study. I might listen to the information and their proofs, and then I would use my own mind to make up an opinion on the matter. I think its always best to get as many opinions as possible before accepting something as fact. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

hi glords one yr later.we still should not believe everything 'we see on the net. research and common sense will help us'to know what is true and what is not true. sometimes claims are made to 'get a person to buy something for their health that actucally does nothing for you at all except to drain your billfold.

I don't believe anything that any single news source tells me. All information is biased in some way, without a doubt and any adult who is so gullible not to know that must not be very smart.

you know that here on internet, people just put the things that they only know or that is their opinion, and nothing else.... so you not only just have to read it, but analyze it, thing about it, and then only believe it.l...

I don't. I only believe what I can see with my own eyes. I do believe my local news channel though. I do believe some of what I see and hear online but it can easily be altered.

I never believe anything I hear or read without researching it myself. Some things I don't even bother to research, like water. We all need water. But everything in moderation would be a good thing for everyone to remember about practically everything! Wow, that was a mouthful of a sentence! lol Doctors and scientists are apt to jump to conclusions sometimes; a later study will prove the first one wrong, etc. I don't take those very seriously until they work them out, whether it's about food or any other subject. I just think we need to have common sense about what we stick in our mouths!

Heck no. You can't believe everything you read or even hear. The stupid news networks are now "reporting" on what they've read on blog sites. Like that is a good source of news? I usually use many different sources before I believe something. If it's something that was forwarded from a friend or relative, those things are normally false. Checking Snopes would have been easy for those friends/relatives, but no matter how many times I suggest that, most of them don't.

I don't believe everything I read on the internet and on any other media. I try to verify the sources first. However scientists and other medical experts have a habit to confuse us lay people with contrasting evidence and statements.

hi ronaldinu one yr later. me either I take everything with a grain'of salt and do further research on sites I know are reliable. I ofter find that some things are just not true. but I do wish the scientists and medical experts wouldnot keep changing their views on things, its confusing indeed.

I do not believe everything. I will see if it is true and see what other medical sites say about it. I will also see whether it is new information or information that has been kept from coming to light, like in the case of caffeine being good for some things. Or something that was supposed to be bad, now found that is good, or visa versa. So I sort of believe what the internet says on something, depending on who reported it and what there agenda is. I do believe there are some foods and drinks that are good for you, almonds and green tea, and real butter for instance, but it was not until the last few years that this news was allowed to come forward and I am thinking of the diseases we could have lessened or prevented like blocked veins, etc. if they were not so interested in promoting oleo margarine. So you really have to do a lot of investigation and sometimes if something is good for you, most of the links are for buying a book called "how to reverse Diabetes (or) Cancer without harmful medications (or) Surgery" before coming to the site that tells what food or drink will reverse the condition.

hi suspenseful hatley here one yr later.I still research a lot of'the claims that I just dont believe.the american diabetes association is a great place for info for diabetics that you can trust., also Webmd is a good reliable place for medical information.sometimes prediabetics can be helped not to become true diabetes and I think the use of metformin often helps that too. as for cancer I would really go to cancer specialists as its not something to fool around with and some claims Are absolutely false all they do is take your money and dont help the cancer at all.

hi maddysmommy one yr later I still also do more research at sites'I have found reliable when I read something that seems to me downright silly and oftenits proved that the article was really stupid. Just someone who wanted to stir up thing. and too some are just trying to get you to put expensive stuff to make you more healthy when the truth is that the stuff doesnt do a thing for you.

I guess it all depends on what website it was posted on. If it's a reliable website, I will trust it. If it's a health website but I have not heard much about it, I will trust it to an extent but do more research. Even research changes every so often. One day this is the best veggie for you, the next week it's something else. One day it's good to take vitamin supplements, the next it's not... I try to use common sense and determine what is truthful and reliable, and if I am unsure, I do more research.

I do not buy the first facts i read on the internet, however Ido my own experimenting and work things out myself andthenread more about it. As regards drinking water before during and immediately after a meal. It is true one should not drink too much water just before, during and immediately after a meal. This is as per the teching of yoga. Analyse it for yourself. Put some waste food in a dustbin and keep it for 2-3 days. It starts giving a bad odour, but it does nto stink half as bad as it would if you were to fill water in the dustbin along with it. Water helps in putrefaction. More gases are given out. Same thing happens in the stomach. Secondly for teh food to digest, there ae certain juices acting on the food in the stomach. if you drink too much water, tehjuices get diluted and the digestion process is not as efficient. It takes about 20-30 min for the initial digestion to take place, that is the juices to act on the food. If there is no water in the stomach during that period ,digestion will be better and you will have less of gas and wind problem which are caused due to indigestion. This is my personal analysis. Could be checked out with a doctor.

hi mercuryman3a well I do trust my doctor and he said to'me that he wanted me to drink 8 to 10 glasses a day and it wouldnt hurt to drink a glass of water with a meal. now I do not drink a half gallon as that would upset my digestive system but I have been drinking that glasss of waterh for 82 years so must be doing something right.I have taken a lot of classes that cover mostof what you said and a lot of what you said is correct but most people get carried away and think that means they cannot drink water at meals at all which is really hooey.

lakantar one yr later you are so right. I seldom trust an article that sounds silly or outlandish so will do more research on the few reliable sites I know of.nine times out of ten they wil shoe that stuff as being untrue. so I am glad to do the extra research on 'it.
