...from just his writing's style?!
there is a scince called stylometry which is concerned by the style of writing and can detect whether someone is male or female..not only it can did so but it can also determine your age!!
stylometry also can distinguish between the writings of famous writers!..so that if i gave it a paragraph from a novel to a famous writer it can detect whom is this writer without even the need of reading this paragrph before!
sometimes we see people write articles and we don't know their gender but have you ever guessed it?..do you get it correct?..if no then you need to learn about stylometry..
it can detect also the feelings and emotions..it can detect whether someone happy or sad..poor or rich..etc.
it is really a great scince
..i think detectives use it
so can any one predict whether someone is a male or female..young or adult..sad or happy..poor or rich..and any thing else from only his writings?
i can do that but on few things 
..mainly i can detect the age and sometimes the gender..so what about you?!

Oh a very interesting a brilliant discussion Milanovich, and a very informative one too. Can we also use it to detect lies on some text contents? How long have you tried using stylometry? Ok, Milanovich my friend, can you guess if I am really and adult or just a homey kid? Just for fun you know. Thanks for the info. I'll try to get more research on this one. cheers!!!

i am not very experinced with it..i just studied it's importance and just some functions of it like how to distinguish between diffrent writers from there style of writing..
i don't know if it can detect lies or not..but i think you can detect only lies when you are face to face with the liar..he in this case become under presure and his emotions and felings are interuppted and that's the idea of the liar detection device..
may be there is a way or more to detect lies but i don't know abou it 
and about you i guess you are adult..the reason i though this because adults only who can use the name of the one they are talking to..also your style sems to be for a 30 to 40 years old man..sorry if i was wrong

Ah both brilliant deductions, Milanovich and Hornetlover! As brilliant as the info on the discussion on stylometry. I am over 40. Although I made that quite easy, but it does prove that a keen mind can always find clues. Assuming that I was unaware of such an investigation on my writing. Stylometry may be used by detectives as you said to reveal more info of a person in his writings, before actually proceeding to confront the person physically for further investigation. ok..i haven't looked on your profile and from your replies to me i can consider that you are mail and your age ranges from 20 to 28
for sure it may be wrong as in some times i can write as if i was a 3 years old and no one can detect my age nor my gender..but this scince is applied to whom who don't know about it so in case of crimes and mysterious letters it is very helpful!

i think i can... i can guess the gender because generally, female's handwriting is neater than male's... but i can't guess the age and emotions like you say... it is a bit hard to do that... may be roughly yes... but precisely, i can't... take care and have a nice day...

you can learn more about it by searching goole with the word stylometry
it is too hard without any practice to detect anyone correctly..but with a little small trainning i think any one could be a detective

That is very interesting. I wonder if there are some people who are indistinguishable. My boyfriend in high school wrote like a girl. Once he forgot to put his name on the page and the teacher said "I have a no name paper, and it belongs to a girl." I wonder if a stylometrologist would have guessed it right. It's another strange question, and more interesting and useful. Sometime we have wrong judges on people's gender just from names. But if you predit someone just by her or his writing, I think it's a more difficult work. May be you are seasoned and you can perdit a little. And many times you will wrong,I guess. Because people's writing style not just fixed, and it affect by other's articles.

yes for sure and for this it is not applied on any one randomly..
if i am gonna make a tool then i will choose samples from people have the same writing capapilites..for example i can't consider some one whose first language not english and just learned some words and then make a decission on him..i will get wrong results then because his style will be like a 6 years child have his first language english..so in here it differs

Sometimes you can tell a person's gender by their writing, but not always. I took an online test that rated my writing as very male, but I'm not. I just write in a factual style that they think is more typical of males. If I used emotional words, and wrote about the things that seem to interest most women, I probably would have been judged correctly.

I know that females typically write with more flourishes than men do and men tend to have "chicken scratching" signatures. Otherwise, I couldn't tell!
I also know that when a person is feeling sad or doesn't think they're worth much, their writing will be small. When I find myself writing small, I consciously make the letters larger and that improves my mood!

and yes stylometry depend on things like this..so the frequant use of emotions or some special words or evem the typos errors can detect the character of any one easily..

Yes, I am quite good at that, I do study the way they write and things they say, I could easiely tell whether they are male or female and I get it right most time.

Hmm i am not an expert when it comes to identifying a persons gender through there handwriting. But what i observed among those people i meet in school and at work is that most women had a better handwriting than most men. And usually there handwriting are pretty neat compared to guys. But i cant be 100% sure that only women is capable of having a good handwriting too so its pretty hard for me to say if the person writing is a guy or a gal.

I can usually guess a person's gender and age bracket if I see their handwriting. I have heard about stylometry but have never looked into it. However, I can not get any emotions from handwriting style.
