I have been to Singapore last year and one of the must see is the Merlion, some say it is because of a legend of a mermaid and a lion, which is the icon of the country. When we got there it was afternoon already and it is starting to get dark. I haven't had the chance to ride a boat in the river where the water is coming from the mouth of the statue of Merlion. Here is a picture of it: http://www.picable.com/Places/Parks/Night-View-of-the-Merlion.284465 It was taken when it was dark already. :) Hope to come back there again and see the icon in day time. How about you have you seen the Merlion?

Hi Leixa, I am from the neighbouring country of Singapore and it is certainly a beautiful sight of Merlion esp. at night with the radiant lightings shining on it. I have seen it in the late evenings and it was lovely even then. Hope you are able to catch it when you are there the next time and do drop by Malaysia , just a bridge away. Cheers and happy posting!

Hi Leixa, I love singapore and I stayed there for almost 10 years for my further studies and work there. I been to Sentosa Merlion 4 times. It is very nice place to visit whereby you can climb up to the top of the merlion mouth and snap pictures and have a very very good view. Don't forget to snap the night view of Sentosa Merlion. I did it last year and the picture turns our Great!! Apart from Sentosa, you can find another Merlion Statue at Raffles Place area,it is a place where most of the tourist will visit and take some pictures.

Hi there, sorry for the super late response (been busy lately with other stuffs). Anyways, I think I just went to the Merlion near the Raffles place (is this the one near Esplanade right? I want to go to the Merlion located in Sentosa because the last time I visited Singapore I did not have the time to make a stop there. I will try to follow your suggestion. Thanks.

there is a mini version of the merlion right beside the big one at the Marina Bay. IT's opposite Fullerton hotel. You can stand right next to the mini merlion and take your picture. I think it's a tourist attraction for i always see many tourists around there. =) Whilst there, you might want to buy icecream from the ice cream uncle there. It's quite a local thing to do i guess. I remember my dad used to buy ice cream for me from those trishaw icecream uncles. it's pretty cheap too. i prefer eating my icecream with waffles than the bread! though the bread is multi-coloured. haha

Wow I think I did not see that one. What I saw is a mini version of the merlion at the back of the big one. I also ate an ice cream at Orchard while we were watching a parade. Is it the same ice cream? And I like that ice cream too (anyways there is not a single ice cream flavor i have not like so far ).

yes, i have seen the merlion as well :) when i just arrived in singapore, i wondered what's so special about the merlion that it's a famous icon in singapore. we were supposed to go there during our last night there but we got tired and fell asleep. i heard that it's great to see the merlion at night because there's this song of the sea. but since we fell asleep, we decided to go there early morning, the ff day, since it was our last day already. when i finally got to see the merlion, i knew then why it was so special. plus the view there is great and it's near promenade, w/c is one of the famoust places/icons in singapore as well... actually, i fell in love with singapore... i was convinced before that i don't want to work in another place other than our country...but when i got to visit singapore, i've been wanting to go there and work since it's still near our country and i can get to visit manila anytime i want to i'll try to upload my picture of the merlion one of these days :)

Well you can see the link I provided. It is a photo of the Merlion during the night when we visited it last year. I too agree with you that it is really something special. That is why so many key chains and t-shirts are made with the images of the Merlion.

We just came back from our Singapore vacation (July 1 to July 7) and we have visited the small merlion on Esplanade and the big merlion on the Sentosa island. We enjoyed our visit even though that our visit there was very short. many places to visit and things to do in there. We will surely come back and visit singapore in the coming future. =)

Sorry for a really late reply. It is good that you had both visited the two Merlions. I just went to the small one (did not really know it was not the original one) and I just went to the Underwater World in Sentosa (which now I can compare with the newly built Manila Ocean PArk). I hope I can see the big one too.

I have visited lovely Singapore three times. I loved seeing the Merlion by the harbor. I know that Singapore is known as the Lion City. My toddler son has the nick name Leo the Lion so I have to take him to Singapore one day. I saw the Merlion in day light and am sure it would look excellent after dark.

Yes, I have seen the Merlion. We have been in Singapore last year of May. and I love there. I have pictures taken in the Merlion both in the big and small merlions. We also buy chocolates that has the shape of a Merlion. We also buy souvenir of Merlion, like Key Chains and displays. Plan to go back in Singapore maybe late next year.
