Just Did A Big Editing Job on My Interests...

After being here 6 months I think I understand how things work a bit better than when I first joined MyLot. I have been checking through the interest lists and found that lots of them have not even been used in over a year or two. So I decided to edit my interests and cut the list down quite a bit. Hopefully I only have interests on my list now that I might actually post discussions to. What about you? Do you ever edit your interest list? Do you have duplicate interests in your list like I did? Do you list everything you might be interested in or just those you might actually write about? I listed major groupings, for instance Books instead of individual books. I tried to do the same with foods and other major topics. So instead of listing individual foods, I listed food groups, etc. How do you pick your interests?

I don't think I've ever deleted any, I don't see any point in it. It's not taking up any valuable space or anything. I do add interests if I am responding to a friend's discussion or one from the top of the day. If I don't already have that interest listed and the box pops up and asks me if I want to add it, I usually do.

For me it was actually taking up a little time during the times I would want to post a discussion. Since they are supposed to be in specific topics or interests I would browse my interestes to find ideas or to find the right one to post to. With so many duplicated interests and so many that had really nothing I would ever write about, it was taking time just going through the long list to find the one I wanted. For instance, I removed almost all the book titles and just kept "books" and the Bible and maybe one or two others. The same with pets. I removed all the individual dog and cat breed interests and just kept general heading topics.

Ok, that makes sense. I rarely have to go digging through mine like that, but yea, it can be difficult if you do.

I too have interests that I hardly post to. There are only a few interests where many people post discussions and these are the interests that get me interested in participating. I should pay more attention to those interests that don't seem to interest me so much. Cheers!!

Well, nobody seems to post in individual ones, so I assume that posting there might be a waste of time. I think that it's the few ones that are really general that I respond the most to, like Life, Friends, etc. I don't really know a lot about most other things to actually write about them.
