Am I being Scammed?

I have been using the same vet for all my pets needs for the past 31 years. Today I stopped in to pick up their heartworm and flea medication. No problem with the heartworm medication but they have stopped selling the particular brand (Frontline) of flea prevention medication I use. Now this medication is very expensive over $10.00 for one months dosage for one dog. As I have 3 dogs that costs over $30.00. I said well as they did not sell it anymore I would get it online but would that cost me an extra $5.00 which I would have to pay them for the prescription to the online company?...answer YES! So I kicked up hell but they would not budge so I ended up getting another brand which they did sell and which cost even more $15.02 per dose. I am really teed off as I think I was scammed. What do you think or what would you have done

Next time try this: http://store.pets-life-rx.com/frontline-flea-tick-y.html. It looks like you can just order it. There is no request for a prescription in the ordering process.

Thank you I checked out the Frontline Plus for my dogs size and they still need to contact my vet for the prescription. Although their price is pretty good so I will bookmark it. Thanks again.

Did you ask why they quit selling it? Maybe the doctor found out a reason why he did not approve it or like it. However I think I would have called surronding vets in my area and got it from them. Or how about 1800-PetMeds. I hate to be a sales person. I mean I checked on them and they were only one dollar cheaper than my vet but they still carry Frontline so maybe you can find it cheaper there. Good Luck and sorry. I don't think your being scammed I just think there may be a reason that your docter does not sell it anymore.

My problem that they will not carry it anymore as some people do not like that brand and to get it from PetMeds they will still charge me $5.00 to give PetMeds a prescription. That does not seem fair to me. I do not want to change vets are they are very good but that policy does not seem right.

I think you were being forced to support the brand that they carry. I think it is just like medicine for humans. You get the prescription for the company that they are supporting.

I don't think you are being scammed. When I went in for Sherlock's medicine I paid for it. Later I thought I'd buy it online so it would cost less. You know those commercials for 1-800-Petmeds? But when I bought it from them it actually cost more, despite the free shipping! I just can't believe how prices have gone up.

I only meant I felt I was being scammed because my vet could not sell me the product I wanted but still want me to pay $5.00 to them for a prescription to get it someplace else.
