Can you solve the rubik's cube?

The Rubik's cube was invented by a Hungarian scupltor and professor of architecture Erno Rubik. Do you know that in 1980, over 300, 000, 000 Rubik's cubes were sold worldwide. Amazing! I just learned to solve it today (only the 3X3X3X3)! Yey! It's really a fulfillment. Haha. It looks complicated at first but when you get the hang of it, it's easier than you thought. It's all about following the algorithms. Hehe. It's just fascinates me. ;D Have you ever tried solving it?

Hi! Yeah I have learned to solve that infamous cube.LOL! Took me a weekend to try to solve it and then just gave up and looked up some tutorials. It becomes easy once you've figured it out but before I ever found out about those algorithms I might've went crazy over it.LOL! Anyway, since solving the standard cube over and over for a month, I got tired of it and took a break for a while, I only solve it when I teach my friends or when they have a question on what step to do next. I wanted to try the 4x4 just to challenge myself but this city doesnt have that yet, or at least I havent gone to the specific place where they buy cubes more than 3 levels. I have been able to solve the other puzzle cube, the one thats usually wood and only has 2 colors, a wood color, and a green one, they alternate, its quite easy, took me 5minutes to figure it out. The bottompart/the first step is the only tricky one, after you got that you just wrap everything around that it forms into a cube. Right now, Im trying to master the 3x3 but with pictures(Disney princesses, was a friends' cube) in it. I was able to figure it out within one hour and 30minutes without any help. Steps are kinda the same as the standard cube but I got to learn some tricks to correctly place the faces. I bought a Ninja Turtles one just to be occupied whenever.LOL! Have fun in solving your cube over and over!

Wow. Ninja Turtles and Disney princesses in Rubik's cube? How cute. I would try those too. But I'll to master the plain 3x3 first. I can't wait to move on to the next level also. The 4x4 is all over the toy stores already. I'm planning to buy one soon. ;D Thanks for your response!;D

Yeah, Ive seen a few students who's trying to solve a 4x4 and a 5x5 but Im guessing they bought it outside of our city. All I see around town is the standard 3x3 ones. You're quite welcome. Enjoy your cube.

I haven't tried to solve a rubiks cube in years. I know it is still popular though. I always wanted to take the stickers off and solve it when I had it all messed up LOL. I could do a few sides on my own but that was about it.

Haha. I thought about that too. Removing the stickers and all that. It's all about algorithms. If you memorized them, you're good to go.;D

Yeah I could if I take it apart and put all back in the correct place. I have tried many times but with no luck. I dont have the nerves to try it over and over and that is funny because I am a very calm person that can sort 1mm beads of 20 colours all day but for some reason give me a rubik cube and I become frustrated just looking at it.

I know what you mean violeta. I felt the same way until I discovered that it's all about algorithms. I followed a tutorial in yuotube and i realized it isn't so hard after all.

There is a way that you can do it in a certain amount of moves that is being taught online. It is a matter of twisting it in a certain sequence till it is solved. In other words, it can be solved without really paying attention to the colors on the squares. If you turn it a certain way, in a certain sequence it can be solved every way regardless of what it looks like when you start. My son has a friend who went to music camp in the summer and learned how to complete it that way in 3 minutes time. Doesn't that seem to take the fun out of it?lol

3 minutes? That's fast. Well, yes. It's not as fun. But it can be a lot more fun if you show off your little trick to your friends. Haha.

Haha. I can relate. I felt the same frustration when you've been trying so hard (not to mention spending to much time for it) and still you can't get it. I've been there. Haha. I just at bliss now that I was able to solve. ;D

Frankly speacking...No! I think it requires a different part of brain to be used in solving such puzzles and I am not good at Rubic cube at all.I must have many rubic cube since they have poured in the market and every time I end up in braeking them by the over use it without solving it, including the recent one what I purchased from a departmental store recently! I am not a sort of person who refer for the solution for suh things. But this Cube keep inspired me every time and I find this cube challenging me every time.Since I am really busy at this phase of life I am not too seriousabout it, but when I will have some leisure time in my future life , I am definitely try to get the solution all by myself! Thanks! It was a nice topic for discussion!

Hello divinegwapa, I thought their is only one kind of rubik cubes. I read here there are 3x3, 4x4 and 5x5. What are those? I have not been able to solve any one of them so far. There is no internet yet when the rubik came out and there is no book to search and learn to solve and so I never solve it. Today, it's coming out again and still I don't have the knock to solve. Maybe with the internet available, I might regain my passion to look for a tutorial and finally solve one. Regards.

I tried to solve it but I've never buckled down and done it, guess I don't have the patience to do it. Now that you've started this discussion I might just have to atempt it and see if I can't do it before the end of the year is out. I did have one of the first ones that had the stickers and I pulled them off and solved it that way but now the new ones are different, no cheating there.

I can solve the 3x3, and it was great... I was jumping up and down all through the house, my sibblings wanted to kill me (I guess they were just jealous, jajaj). My dad can do the 5x5 and for him its really easy, I was shocked when he did it in just minutes and I begged him to teach me how he did it. But you know, a magician never reveals his secrets =S Happy MyLotting and have a nice day! Xp

Yes, I know how to solve the 3x3 Rubik's cube since High School back in 1988 hehe. Actually the whole of our class solved the puzzle in just a matter of hours teaching each other how to do it until we did not have a class for one subject becasue the teacher was also learning how to solve it. My youngest brother had a rubik's cube puzzle as a gift when he turned five but he doesn't know how to solve it until now. I was the one who always played with it but couldn't solve the whole of it just one color. Now, I have 2 Rubiks cube puzzle at home a big one and a small one for teaching my cousins how to do it if they can understand my instructions.

My Grandad had one of these when they first came out, he used to let me play with it. One day I was playing with it and I could not do it, I was about 8 at the time, and because I could not do it I decided to try to peel the stickers off and so cheat. My Grandad found out and he went mad, it is the one and only time that he ever shouted at me and I was heartbroke because I had upset him so much! I don't think that I ever touched one since then and that was in 1981!

Oh, Gosh!! NO!! I stink!! I am so right-brained and stuff like that makes my head hurt. If I did solve it, it would be purely by coincidence, lol I tried and tried and tried. It is a gift of left-brained people!! LOL

hi there!! First off,,thank you for the information. I appreciate it a lot. I haven't got the chance or never intended to research on that. Well, before everytime I could see a person solving a rubik's cube It really attracts me. I thought then, people who can solve it are like genius and that they really something. I was still in my Secondary and Tertiary years that time. But, when I graduated from college and landed a job, it is where I learned solving it. HUrray!!! It was when an officemate one time brought up to the office something like a cube (it wasn't a real rubik's cube) and everybody in the office got crazy solving it until such time we all got the pattern of it. From then on, we bought a real rubik's cube and surf to the internet the algorithm of it and BINGo we fin'lly got it solved. I brag to all my cousins and churchmates 'bout it and I feel like a genius that time 'coz none of them knows how. So, i became there master of the Rubik's cube. Sad to say, most of them already knew how to solve it and even surpass me. huuhuhu.. BUt, that doesn't matter anymore 'coz atleast I once became there tutor and feel like genius for the first time.hehe
