How big will a Golden Retriever grow? Have you seen any big dogs? And are all retrievers golden color or not all?

The Golden Retriever is a big, muscular dog, weighing in at 55 to 75 pounds and standing 21 to 24 inches tall at the shoulder. This dog breed has a broad skull, which may be why Golden Retrievers are so intelligent. IMO makes a wonderful pet.

I had a golden retriever a few years ago, he was a year old and over 100 lbs. He was beautiful but he was too active for us and our children. He was very playful and knocked my son down when he was 2 years old. He almost knocked me down when I was 7 months pregnant. He also had a hip problem that is common in large dogs, he needed surgery but we couldn't afford it at the time. We put him up for adoption and he went to live at an all girls school in Pa. He was very happy, he had alot of land to run on. They do get big.

We have a golden puppy.. wonderful dog, from a reputable breeder (which makes all the difference) Let me make this very clear - it many many cases you get what you pay for. A golden male (if pure breed)is 23-34 inches in height at withers. 65-75 lbs A golden female (if pure breed) is 21 1/2 -22 1/2 inches height at withers. 55-65 lbs. deviation in height by more than 1 inch from standard will disqualify in a show. Their coat is dense and water repellent with a good undercoat. The breeds with more red in their coats are generally for hunting, feild, dogs. The breeds with more golden are generally for obediance training or show. I say generally. Be specific when looking for a golden as they are raised from different blood lines to acheive different things. Hunting and field-type goldens will be more hyper and require more from you. (though all dogs need good training)Show lines will be more layed back ( we have a 4 month old show line who has yet to jump on ANYONE or knock anyone over. He is very calm and loving and I have 4 toddlers in my home) To quote golden retrievers for dummies - "Don't purchase a show line if you want to hunt, or run field trials". "Pretty dog yes, hunting partner, nope". However, in my opinion - they make wonderful wonderful family dogs - are very smart, and awesome with children. Hope this helped!

The breed standards for a Golden say they should be anywhere from 55-75 lbs when full grown, females being on the smaller half of that spread. Of course there is always the possibility for a dog to grow bigger than the breed standard, but that's a rough estimate. Color will be some shade of gold, though I've seen some that were very pale as to almost be white, and some that have a lot of red in the gold. Really, they can be anywhere in between. Hope this helps.

I had a golden retriever one time that weighed 65 pounds. They are large dogs, but they are usually very emotionally stable dogs. They are quite good around children. Not all retrievers are golden.

It depends because i've had a golden in high school that was nearly 100 pounds and then i've had another one that was just over 60 pounds and we couldn't get him to gain weight no matter what we tried. I'd say it all depends on the litter. If you get one that had a lot of brothers and sisters then chances are it won't grow to be too big.

Goldens get quite large. Females usually are abetween 50-70 while males are 65-80. Their coats come in a array of colors, from reddish, golden, cream, and white. Also, if you didn't know, their coats can vary between being straight to more wavy. It all depends on the parents. Hope this helps! They are great dogs though and absolutely adorable. They are a joy to have and become like family.
