I feel not going back for check up anymore.

That kind of thing happens to me all the time too. If you feel better maybe wait a month and a half or two months before going back. My doctor charges me a $30 co-payment to see him. I wait for 2 hours usually with an appointment and then I see the doctor for maybe 5 minutes, and then that's it. They sure do make good money don't they? I took my son to the doctor last week because he has strep throat so that was $30. It was another $20 for his medicine and the doctor asked me to make another follow up appointment for next week to see if my son is better. Come on, they want another $30 from me. I made the appointment but if he is doing better I'm going to cancel it. I don't feel like waiting in a room with a bunch of sick people again only to pay $30 to the doctor so he can tell me that my kid is better now. I think I can tell that myself! Well, hang in there, I hope your knee gets better. Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

I can only say that I hope you are voting for the candidate who promises a National Health service, such as we enjoy in the UK. Ours is very far from perfect, I have to admit, but your system, I have observed, tends to make people reluctant to visit a doctor even when they are genuinely sick and it means that those on small incomes are seriously disadvantaged. Medical treatment should be available to all, regardless of their ability to pay, not just to those who can afford medical insurance or to whom $80 is just so much small change. By all means let there be a system where one can pay for faster treatment for non-critical complaints, non-essential cosmetic surgery or more private hospital accommodation if one is able to but basic treatment to give a certain standard of health should be everyone's right as a citizen.

That's just awful! I know a lot of doctors are lazy and too busy to see all of the patients that they make the appointments for. Makes me mad too.

I feel the quality of doctors out there has gone down. They are just making money without even having a thorough knowledge of what sickness the patient is suffering. They just prescribe some antibiotics and charge the consultation fees. For EXAMPLE: My son had viral fever. Doctor prescrivbed antibiotics and it did not work. It took about 10 days for him to recover. During a second consulation when he found that medicine was not effective he tried to prescribe another antibiotic. I refused and asked hiim to do a blood test and found it was viral fever.

Sorry for what you went through with the waiting and the medience not working but this goes to the point that many doctors have been trying to make for years. Simply put poeple run to the doctor with every little runny nose and sniffle so that keeps the doctors backed up in the office. As for the antibiotic prescription- many patients refuse to leave without a medication feeling like they haven't been treated unless they go home something to treat whatever. The truth is a lot of patients go to the doctor or hospital and haven't tried one thing at home, like rest, motrin, cough medience etc. not to mention the patients that never have prescriptions filled to start with. This problem has grown out of a publics request to be treated the way they want, or doctors face lawsuits that force them out of practice. I know this is rambling but you have to know that people go running to the doctor for every thing, stubbed toes, etc. Really- is it any wonder that doctors can't see those that are truly sick?

nowadays, the doctors have become materialistic too... they care more about money rather than saving people's lives... they become more and more greedy... that's why i am so hesitant to go to doctor unless if it is really necessary... otherwise, i will try to cure myself by resting in bed... hope your knee will get better soon... take care and have a nice day...

Most doctor are busy minting money these days. If it is a Government doctor,he couldn't care less.If he is a private practitioner, heis seeing more patients than he possibly can and is reaking in the moolah. They can be very irritating at times.

Ya i do feel so. I personally thinks that one should be doctor cause he or she love to help and save people not because of the great income so they become a doctor.

You should write a letter to your health centre detailing your complaint. Maybe you should also copy it to the specialist who operated on your knee. Phrase it carefully without anger or too much emotion, giving names, facts and dates and your reasons for demanding better treatment. Whether you pay for treatment or not (in the end, everybody does, whether it is directly, through health insurance or through government funding), you have a right to a certain level of satisfactory medical attention. If you were fobbed off with a 60 second consultation, then others may also be. Every doctor, I know, has targets to meet and is supposed to allow only a certain amount of time for each patient. Some need a lot longer than the target time but there is no reason why anyone should get less. If people don't make reasonable complaints in the right quarter, you can hardly expect the health service to improve!

Complaint isn't gonna work over here in my country. Like they say it only work for rich people. Doing complaint will only make thing worst. The workers and those nurse only will give you excuse and ask you wait instead of think to improve themselves.

Just for the information in fact this is my second doctor already. I change the first doctor that did my leg operation and fail so this is the second doctor that operate me and its the second time i do this knee operation. In fact they are in the same hospital. I guess out of those 10 doctor maybe only 1 is good and nice. I just have no choice and the only thing i can do is pissed and be patient.

Oh no! You waited for so long for such a short glance at your right knee and then asking you to come back. If I were in your place, I would tell the doctor that I need more attention than that. I'd tell him I waited for 2 hours and did not expect the treatment would be that unsatisfactory. I also will let him know I am not going to him again and I also will tell him to exercise regularly. Maybe he needs exercise in order to treat his laziness. Poor doctor... he will die soon due to inactivity!

Even if i didnt ask him off there would be no benefits for me too. So all i can do is be patient as i only can refer back same hospital as i operate over there. Don't think those doctor can care for their own health as most of those nurse and doctor are fat one.
8 Oct 08
Hi snpyvin, That is really disgusting of your doctor to treat you like that, after waiting two hour, I would have told him off. Go for your check up next time and if he treat you like that again tell heim you won't bother next time, just tell him off, I would. Tamara

Don't mind it. There is always dutiful doctors and unresponsible doctors. You can ask your relatives or frends for some advices before you see a doctor. Once I suffer a serious illness, a yound doctor checked me. When I said that I am a relative of one of the doctor of the hospital, they immediately change a old doctors for me and changed all the prescription.
