Could loading up on vitamins be harmful?

I have read an article about the possible harm of taking too much vitamins. It was from a woman's magazine and i forgot the author. I remember this now because i began to load up on vitamins everyday ever since i got sick. Before i just take vitamin B COmplex but now i also take vitamin c, E with omega 3 and A. I take C and A in the morning, B after lunch, and E with omega 3 before bedtime, because i also read it is not good to take them all in one time. My vitamin C is dissolved in water, A and B are in tablet form and my vitamin E is in capsule form. I am worried i could be taking too much. What about you? What is your say on this? How much vitamins do you take everyday?

It is very possible to overdose on vitamins! There are many horrible side affects of doing so, depending on the vitamin in question. Please go to a website such as Medline and check out the long list of possible side effects of vitamin overdosage. Please be careful. Some can cause permanent organ damage.

Thank you very much for your advise rocketj. I will surely check out this site and see if i might be doing harm on my body by loading up on these vitamins.

I think it sounds like you are using normal doseage. But it can't hurt to check. Take care and blessings!

in medicine all doctors says " if you take poison in proper amount it is medicine and if you take medicine in more amount it is poison" be aware ; consult doctor first

hi pinkytabor read the labels. also check on the internet for the safe maximum dosage of all the various vitamines. I take a multivitamin once a day and leave it at that. I take calcium pills for good bones, and iron pills as I am anemic. If you take vitamins in the correct dosages you should be just fine.

In large doses, some vitamins have documented side effects that tend to be more severe with a larger dosage. The likelihood of consuming too much of any vitamin from food is remote, but overdosing from vitamin supplementation does occur. At high enough dosages some vitamins cause side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. I don't take any vitamin capsules.
