A Steamy Morning In Minnesota

Steamy Morning - Steam from the cool air and warm sun beaming on the dew in Minnesota.

That's right. I said a steamy morning here in Minnesota on October 8th. One thinks of Minnesota mornings in October as cold, well it was chilly this morning. We had a lot of dew all over the place as well. And the sun was beaming brightly it's rays warming everything up it touched. This is a shot of the steam from this action on my back fence. The roof of the house, the grass, the plants, and the gate all had this beautiful, yet eerie look as the steam rolled from it. Have you seen steam rolling from your houses roof or lawn and or plants ever? It was a beautiful and soothiong look as I opened the back door letting the dog out. I called my wife to see and she said, "Are you sure it isn't a fire Bob?" I laughed so hard at that question. Have a great day/evening as well all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It can be pretty sometimes, but also dangerous if you have to drive in it. In a town not far from us this morning, there was a 25 car pile up, it was soooo foggy this morning you couldn't see 5 feet in front of you. Nobody I know got hurt, I haven't heard anything so far. Thats why I said, yes it is pretty if you can enjoy it at home but if you have to drive in it, its not so pretty. Thats funny, your wife thought it might of been a fire...Have a good day

Well here in Minnesota we are good drivers. I can't recall any big pile up due to fog. Not yet anmyhow. Now a snowstorm and pile ups is a different story. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

hji uncle bob here in ca we have awful pileups in the fog as the idiots geton the freeway and refuse to slow down, then someone hits someone else and p rettysoon there are cars all over the freeway because nobody wants to drive the way they should in the fog. They even do that in flooded streets until the water gets into the car so bad it stalls. Nobody should be driving at sixty\miles an hour in a dense fog!!!!!!!!!

Living down south we do get such a thing too..and I think it's pretty amazing! Like when the sun hits the roof of your car and the steam just drifts off it! Very cool!

The steam was rolling off the roof of the garage and house. Also off of all the plants in the yard. Sort of looked like the typical horror movie graveyard scene. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

yeah it did..sometimes we get that foggy steam and as long as I don't have to drive in it, I think it is pretty..Call me strange, but I like all kinds of weather to look at.. (some weather I would rather not be in..lol)

Never saw steam rolling. But I remember once we woke up with my friend early in the morning and looked through the window. And we could see nothing there, absolutely nothing because of fog. We even laughed and said that it was the end and we were the only people in the world. Well, it was joke of course. And today our mornig was cloudy, rainy and cold.

It's just like fog except it covers only the area that's wet from the dew and the heat of the sun shining on it. The shaded areas had no steam. A very cool sight to watch each mornoing. Very sunny and going to be near 70 here today. Nice and unusually warm for October 8th in Minnesota. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I imagine that it was very pretty. I always see mist rising up over water areas. I know that it is not smoke. I can imagine your wife believing you were playing with fire again.

We have had a little bit of rain here in Indiana. We sure needed it. We had a little bit of fog this morning also. It was cool outside this morning here too. I have seen steam coming off of the roof and the ond. It looks neat.

I have seen steam coming up off of roof tops, yards and roads many times. Being in south Texas when it does get cold then the sun comes out and warms up there is a lot of steam.

That was the day that I got to drive to work in the early morning surrounded by that beautiful fog! I was in heaven, it was so perfectly beautiful. I stayed off the freeway because people get crazy in the fog and sure enough I avoided a very nasty accident involving a car and two semis. I was sad when the fog burned off a few hours later. I love fog. I always think of the Carl Sandberg poem of the fog creeping in on little cat's feet.

It really does look beautiful. We have a mountain near our house, and some mornings when I go on my walk you can't see the mountain at all! It has a tall telecommunications tower on it (like the Eiffel tower), and sometimes you can see the top of it poking out over the mist - but not the mountain. It's very eerie, and as you say, soothing.

It's like that across the freshly harvested rice fields around where I live. It's so strange driving to the college and seeing this 'ocean' of mist on either side of the road.

hi grandpa bob, you had a steamy morning and it was actually cool here after three days in ninety degree dry weather. Even looked for awhile like rain but that soon disappeared.so dry here its scary. if someone just makes a spark around our forests we will have another bad fire season. Your wife is right it did look like smoke. lol.

Here in georgia when it gets cold (which seems to be less and less)you can watch the steam come off of the marshes and it is eerie indeed.

Hi GRANDPA BOB, Yes I have seen it a few times here, when I can get up early, I've seen it raising gron the ground looking quite spooky, but is looks lovely, thats the wonder nature. Tamara
