I always see and hear the little beep beep sound as someone points their little key thingy at their car as they start across the parking lot. I don't have a thingy for my car and I don't lock it, ever. Of course I don't have an expensive stereo or anything like that. I figure if they want in they're gonna get in and I would rather have my windows still in one peace. I have always done this with any car I have owned and never had a problem. Do you lock your car?

I lock my car all the time. Better safe than sorry. There have been episodes of vandalism in the parking lot where the staff is supposed to park at work. I have just gotten in the habit of doing it automatically and don't even think about it anymore. I even gotten in the habit of locking it when it's in my garage. Interestingly enough, my husband does too.

"prevention is better then cure". i always lock my car in the house or outside and it is natural to me. i have an immobilizer and it is just with a press of a button and even when we didn't had this i used to lock the car before leaving it and people are nowadays seeking opportunities to get advantage of others. then why should we take risk.bad things do happen to the good people and they should be ready for them. and the least unexpected happens when you don't expect it.good luck

I live in a pretty small town surrounded by other small towns which are surrounded by even more small towns. I have never locked my car. In fact, in the winter, if I'm just going in to the store for something quick, ths car sits in the parking lot running, though with gas as expensive as it is, thatmay be curbed this year. I also don't lock my apartment door, never have. I can say I have never had anything stolen from me either from my car or my home.

I always lock my car doors. When I'm in it and out. I always make it a habit to lock the doors when I get out of the car for any reason. I also lock them when I get in the car especially at night. I tend to take a few minutes before I actually start driving so I lock my doors just so no one can catch me off gaurd and just open up the door.

I always lock my car. Its good to be careful with my things rather than being wreckless and regret eventually. Well, being in public place is never a safe place. I guess if it's time, it's time!!! And we have different points of view regarding a lot of things... Freedom of choice!

Hello devideddi, Yes I must lock my car in all times for there are a lot of people out there who stole cars. Though my car is not that expensive I treasure it a lot for it's our first car here in the Philippines. All my life I wanted to have one even a second hand and thank God finally I was able to bought it, brand new. So, I need to protect it. Though I must admit that once I forgot to close one of the windows when I went downtown and I felt so irresponsible upon finding it. From then on, I'm always double checking it. It's better to be protected than sorry. It's just that it's so hard to earn just to have one, so I must lock it to be safe.

Yeah, I do lock my car manually as well. I don't have alarms on my car but it can't be started easily. I have an old car though and I still love it a lot. I just keep it locked always and I'm still used to checking each of the knobs when I step out of the car to park in public spaces.

I NEVER EVER lock my car while it's parked at my mother's. And, when I'm at my apartment, I rarely do. In fact, I get very upset if someone thinks they're doing me a favor by locking my doors because I don't take the key with me and then have to traipse back up a flight and a half to get the key to open the door. I HATE having the doors locked at home. When I'm at a store, it depends on where I am and what I have in the car. If there's nothing of value in the car, I don't care. If I'm not in a bad neighborhood, I don't care. But, if I'm in Philadelphia or a questionable neighborhood or if I have something in the car that I don't feel like taking with me to protect it (or it's too big), then I lock all the doors. But, mainly, I avoid locking them - I just hate not being able to immediately open the door.

I always lock my car - manually. For me, it is just automatic. Heck, there are times where I have left my windows down and locked the door!! That sure is a deterrent!! :)

I lock my car anytime I get out of it. If i'm only going to be in the store for 2 minutes, I lock it. You never know what could happen in those 2 minutes. I used to be able to lock my car with the remote on my keychain, that way I didn't have to do it manually, but the battery went out and I haven't been able to get another one. I may not have anything expensive in my car, but I would rather be safe than sorry. In this economy, people are going to be stealing a lot more, and I don't want anything to happen.

I agree with you, I don't keep anything in my car that is worth taking. So I don't want to pay for new windows. My car has been broken into on numerous occasions and I have never had a window broken. I've had my papers and stuff thrown all over the sidewalk but nothing worth losing or it wouldn't be in my car. My husband had his truck broken into and they broke the window and took his wallet. That will teach him to lock the doors and leave something of value inside his vehicle.lol

I always lock my car. I can't afford for anyone to steal it. It also doesn't matter if you have an expensive stereo in the car or not. I had a 1987 camry stolen once and they took out the cheap stereo we had just put in because the original one stopped working. Yet they left the $500 michelene tires we had just put on it. Does that make any sense? They didn't the windows to get in, they just used a jimmy stick. At least we got the car back.

It depends on where I am and what's in my car at the time. I live in a tiny town in Iowa. A friend of mine who recently moved away jokes that here in this area (Iowa, South Dakoa, Nebraska) you could leave your car running in the middle of an intersection and no one would steal it. If I am in town or one of the neighboring towns, I don't usually lock my car. I don't lock my car at night at home either. Nobody does around here, honestly. If I am in one of the bigger cities around here, then I do lock the car. I also lock the car if I've just gone shopping and have various items in shopping bags in my car. This is just where I err on the side of caution, being originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where a car jacking once occurred literally right infront of me at a gas station where there were tons of people around.

I always lock my car no matter what. Before I had a baby, I always lock my car for safety reasons because of what I've been seeing in the news or even in some shows. It's scary to think somebody could get in your car when you go pay for gas or go in a grocery store for just five minutes to pick up something. Now that I have a baby, I am more cautious than ever. I always think safety first for myself and for my baby. Even if my husband is with us, I always tell him to lock the doors.
