Rent a Kid

My husband found a blog article this morning about a new idea to rent your child out to someone who needs them. They are proposing the idea as ZipKid. Am I the only person that thinks this is wrong on so many levels. My first question to my husband was, why would you want to rent a kid. He said to pick up girls or look good at a company picnic. I really think this is an absurd idea. Would you rent your child out to a stranger?

I really hope this was a joke. Sometimes people just post random thoughts on blogs.

No it is not a joke. My husband reads the Metro Express blog every morning and he found the post and told me about. The company has not been started yet, it is just a proposed idea at this time.

This is somehow kind of like when I used to threaten mini-me that I'd sell her on e-bay to the highest bidder if she didn't start behaving. she knew I wasn't serious though... LOL! But seriously...YES it would be absurd to rent your kid out to strangers! All KINDS of pervs and scumbags could get access to your kid that way!! Tell Mr. Bytemi to stop reading such garbage! LOL

Ha Ha!! I tell mine that the next time the gypsies come through town I am going to sell them for $1 and when I ask them if that is enough they say no $5. It gets us all laughing and the tension is gone.

Heck no!! Totally not an option as you never know who the weirdos are and who may do serious damage to a child. CHildren are not possessions to buy and sell or even rent, they are God's gift to be protected and nurtured in the best of ways. For shame anyone would even think of doing such a thing.

Another thought---if someone wanted to look good to their boss--take your own nieces/nephews or friend's kids!! The parents get a break, you look good (which i think is ridiculous but oh well) and the kids have a good time and few people are wondering what the world your PROBLEM is!

My question is if you introduce them as your child, how do you explain to your boss why you don't claim them on taxes or pay for health insurance for them. I really don't see the boss angle as a good one.

....NO! That could be such a way for pedophiles to do something, or some other creep, I mean, yes I understand there are genuinely good people, who would like to see to try this way, POSSIBLY to see if they think they're ready to be parents, or maybe adopting. And uh, if guys are STILL doing this? tell them to join Big Brother, easier and it's your volunteer work settled.

This is the first time I heard of rent a kid, thought there are quite some other related renting like rent a toyes, pets, etc. But I agree this is a new idea, and could use if carefully checking the parties involved.

Honestly, no amount of checking would make me feel good about letting a stranger borrow my child. You never know what is in someones mind.

I agree with you. Can you imagine all the sickos out there who will be wanting to rent a kid for their pleasure. There is no amount of money that would ever make me want to rent my children out.

never in my life....i think no sane parents would ever do that. i wonder what goes in the mind with the one who started with that blog. he should ask himself first if he agrees if his own kid will be rented! if he agrees, well, its time for him to see his neuropsychiatrist!

CERTAINLY NOT! Just thinking that you will do this in exchange for money, my conscience will bother me. It's just the same with making money using your child, I think there's no difference with pimping! I hate to use the word but that's the truth. Besides that, you may not know the person who will carry your child. It's just like lending your child to stranger, whom you're not sure will give your child the same care you're giving him. I can't put my words in order with this idea really. We have the same point of view! This is an absurd idea! Whew!

Personally I wouldn't agree with such kind of arrangement with a stranger, You'll never know what they would do to your child when she/he is out of your sight. I think we should take care of our child on our own as much as possible, but if you're working you could asked someone very close to you, maybe your mom or sister to take care of them. You know why I was against that kind of setting because I was once entrusted by my parent to my relatives while they were both working, during my early childhood days, And that was one of the reason I thought why I developed so much fear inside of me, I was little bit a victim of child abuse by my uncle, he used to strike me by his belt, whenever he doesn't like what I was doing.

I agree, this is just wrong. I have a 6 month old and it's hard leaving him with family for a few hours. We really have some sick people out there in this world.

wow.. that really shows you want our society is comming to. I have a 2 year old and its hard dropping her off at daycare where everyone is friendly and i know them personally; let alone to a stranger. 'ZipKid' better get rid of that rediculous idea before a lot of upset parents take action. I just cant believe people know-a-days. makes me sick!

Hi Bytemi, The whole idea of renting a child is absurd and I would think illegal in most countries. If this isn't a big joke, someone must think there are some desperate parents around. What parent would seriously consider renting their child to a stranger? Blessings.

I would rather take my children to a nursing home to visit more of the grandmother and grandfather type people that no one visits then to rent my children out. You do not know what type of people you are letting your child go with either. This just blows my mind that someone came up with this idea! I feel like I would be doing something illegal also. Child endangerment, selling a child type thing, setting your family up for the child to be kidnapped! I hope others don't really do this.

Who ever does this gets exactly what they deserve. I wouldn't rent my kid out, heck, I don't even let family borrow my stuff. I guess some ding dong has come up with a way to lure unsupecting kids to their lair of scum.

Omgosh what has the world come to!? That is absolutly crazy! With all the kidnapping/rapeing/murder that is happening more and more I couldn't imagine any sane individual willingly "renting" their child out! How horrible. I'm sorry but now amount of "rental fee" would be worth the chance of never seeing your child again!

Yeah, what are you going to do call the police and say your child has been kidnapped. "Well yes officer, I rented him out but he was suppose to be back 3 hours ago". That is a conversation I would not want to have.

Whow, I guess that is a very hard idea on lending my children safety to let unto someone I did not even have any idea on who are they......so I think it is not a good idea unless if the site has been approved by the Government to keep the children safe.......
