A dear friend was retiring, and I really wanted to give her something special. I was broke, and I didn't want to run up credit cards, so I crocheted her a beautiful vest. Each time I worked on it, I thought about all the times we'd enjoyed at work and on weekends, and I missed her before she left. She loves it, and that made me feel so good! I know the time and work I put into it were appreciated more than if I'd bought it, too.

Yes, I have -- plenty of times. I like to do crafts and such, so I often give gifts that I've made. The most recent was a scrapbook that I made for my step-father with the pictures of all of his grandkids in it. I think there's just something special when you take the time to make something yourself.

The last handmade gift I ever gave was a clay vase I made for my mother in art class. It belive it was 8th grade, so that would have been 26 years ago at least.

Greeting Cards - Birthdays
I do not know if you would consider this a gift but I used to make my own cards for Christmas, birthdays and other occasions and give them to my loved ones.

Though a hand made gift is quite meaningful, I seldom give it to my friend, because I don't think I can made a satisfactory one. Most of the time, I buy gifts from gift shops.

A few years back my famiy use to pick names for Christmas. The persons name we picked we had to make them a homemade gift. It was fun, but very stressful trying to figure out what to make this certain person..especially for the guys, so we quit that tradition. I have given homemade fudge, candy, candle holders with a votive in it, towels that hang on the stove, and kitchen cloths.

It was a new year greetings card,I had presented it to my history teacher. I had made a picture of a flower bouquet with rose and colored it with mica powder. It was looking beautiful.
