Just kidding but is the number in that little star on my profile my rating? It used to be a ten and in the past few weeks has gone down to a six! Does this mean I am losing money or cool points or something? Am I in trouble with MyLot? Have I offended anyone? I just wondered what this meant? I need an explanation please.

Here is what I think - you ask honest questions, give thoughtful and honest replies. Of course you offend people. So do I. My answer? So what! Honestly, life is not a popularity contest it is in fact something far different. It would be lovely if everyone liked us all the time. But if they did than I assure you that you are doing something very wrong; either lying to yourself or to them. The real truth is that every single minute that we are on this earth we are bound to offend someone. It isn't our fault or theirs really. It is simply the way life works. Now I suspect if you could actually see who was bouncing those little ole negative ratings around they wouldn't do it so freely. Know why? Because they wouldn't want to acknowledge that they were being "ugly". But under the cover of darkness, when they know that it can be done with complete confidence that no one will know....well that is a different story all together - minus signs all around. Sorta the same reasoning for why the Klan wears sheets.

I wish I could see who was rating what! That's my point I guess here is who was being a "hater" in the first place. I try not to offend but in the end it is what it is. I am not going to cry (a lot lol). Lovely new profile pic. Thanks for responding.

Thanks on the pic - it was one of several taken for a Discovery Channel show I recently did. I liked it (sorta) and the other one was 8 years old. Figured that I might as well show my real age! As to the rest, really why care? My 'star' will likely never rise above where it is right now. I offend to many people with my responses. I am to honest with my thoughts and answers. I don't play nice. It isn't that I go out of my way to offend, I don't. But I also don't tolerate ignorance or stupidity lightly. Neither should you.

I do not know what it means exactly but I think it reflects on how people rate you. I am sure someone out there knows better.

Well, it means taht someone has been rating your responses down, but you don't need to worry much. The ratings on Mylot go up and down all the time. If you put effort into your responses and discussions, and you stay within the guidelines, there is no reason to worry over it. If you got into an argument with someone recently, it's probably the most likely cause, as people have a tendency to choose sides. It might lower earnings, though, so try to keep out of trouble if you're worried about that.

And this is new to me. Didn't think it would effect my earnings but now that I've been told it does I am rather upset about it. So While I am not going to kick anyone's butt in here for them to like me, I'd just rather be given the same respect I've given everyone else. I always rate positively, even to negative, narrow minded responses. Oh well. This still doesn't bug me that much.

I don't think it means anything. But just to be on the safe side, I rated you positive on pretty much all the topics I could find with you in it, ha ha ha!

Hi, friend! From what I know, you must have received several negative ratings from myLot users. You may have started a discussion or made a comment that offended them. This does not affect your earnings and you're not in trouble with myLot. It just affects your star rating or reputation among the members here. My opinion is that if you want to get a consistently high rating, then sway away from controversial topics or those that will trigger you (or others) to give a strong discussion or response. If you believe that expressing your opinion counts more, then go ahead. Your earnings are not affected, anyway. Happy myLotting!

Two things then I guess: 1. If it doesn't effect my ratings then it isn't even a concern. 2. I do nothing but post and respond to controversial discussions so I look forward to my rating dropping back to a one! Keep posting!

Now I finally see the plus signs!! I didn't know what they were for. I have only been here a week so I guess I am not that slow on the uptake. LOL

Glad I never offended and welcome to MyLot! I didn't know about any of this when I first got here either. I am still learning but I have received a payout and I am working on my second one. You can earn money here so stick with it. The hardest part is getting referrals. And in order to produce some real cash in here you will need several active referrals. I only have one. Keep posting!
