Have You Ever Tried To Lose Weight?

When I was 19 I lost 50 pounds. I felt great and had more self confidence. Now I'm 30, had two children and well, those 50 pounds plus some have come back. I've been trying to count my calories for the past month and I'm happy to say that I've lost 13 pounds. I eat whatever I want, just try to moderate how much I eat in order to make sure that I don't take in too many calories. I've also tried to cut soda out of my diet and drink mostly water. It's really hard to believe how many calories we actually drink a day. So, have you ever tried to lose weight? Were you successful?

I was always stocky except when I was entering puberty when I grew taller. I started to gain weight after thirty and I attribute that as not bearing children after marriage since I had said I intended to nurse them so I did lose weight that way and the weight that was intended to carry a baby inside just stayed. I did not drink that much soda. The main problem besides the previous was that when we moved to the Prairies, we ate mostly a high carb diet -hard to eat veggies and fruits in the proper proportions when they are too expensive and just one or two apples or bananas a day and a package of mixed veggies is not that good. I got up to 227 lb. and then I decided to try by adding more fruit, I have a raspberry and strawberry patch, and cutting out the bad carbs and using skim milk, drinking green tea and other things. Then I found that my weight went down to 202 and is now 198 lb. I then was told recently that I was pre diabetic, in spite of my exercise and weight loss. So I guess that problem is hereditary, but it is way more expensive to live healthy especially when the winters here last about six months.

Yes, I totally agree. Trying to eat more vegetables and fruits can get very expensive. It sounds like you have done a good job losing weight though. I'm sure you are very happy about that. I know I'm happy with my 13 pounds and I can't wait to lose more. Thanks for your comment and Happy MyLotting!

Thanks for the best response. I do find it hard to lose, easy to gain, and now since I am natural muscular, I find I am gaining more. Now with winter, the vegetables and fruits are even more expensive. Wish me luck.

after two kids, and years of eating the wrong things and too much lol, i did lose weight. i'm 5'3" and 5 years ago i was around 300 lbs, i actually don't know what my heaviest weight was, i stopped getting on the scales at 290. 5 years ago, i cut out the cold drinks, 90% of sweets and fried foods. within the first year i lost 150 lbs. i am proud to say i have kept the weight off, i am way more active and have more energy. i went from size 22 jeans to size 10! and it felt great buying that first pair of size 10 and them fitting good! lol keep up the good work. my oldest daughter started an exercise/diet program on her own at the first of 2008, she has lost 50 lbs, and is looking great.

I totally agree. It is hard especially when you love alot of foods that have a lot of calories. I've actually searched the internet for low calorie recipes and a lot of them are for foods that I love and I didn't think could be made with fewer calories, but they can. Just do some research and if you need any help then let me know. I will help you find some if you wish. Thanks for your comment and Happy MyLotting!

I have never really TRIED to lose weight. I lost a bunch of weight after I had both of my kids, but I found it again after awhile. I normally drink diet soda, but lately I have been drinking Mountain Dew. I know I have been drinking a lot of calories lately. I need to go back to my diet soda at least if nothing else.

Yes, I was a HUGE lover of Mountain Dew. I drink mostly water now, but if I do drink soda I drink Diet Mountain Dew now. I think it really makes a difference with the calories you take in from what you are drinking. Thanks for the comment! Happy MyLotting!

I have been reasonably thin most of my life. I did put on some weight with my 1st child. And I didn't lose all of it. But I am hoping for a better result after my son is born. I may diet to get it off.
