Hi friends, I've been suffering from colds now and its been more than a month already that my colds is still persist. I am having self medication for it is common sickness. But still i am not yet feeling well. I think i should call my doctor for medication. Did you ever called your doctor when you are feeling sick? Do you like to self medication?

We often self medicate when we have simple sickness like colds and cough. But when the sickness still persist for more than 2 weeks, me and sons go to the doctor for check up and seek doctors advice. Its not good to self medicate coz sometimes it leads to more complications and more expenses. So you better go to your doctor and have a medical check up.

Hi friend, sorry to hear that but dear,I think you should better go and see a good doctor.I also do self medication when it is like common cold or just fever but when symtoms lasts longer than expected then I do go and take advice from my doctor.Sometimes what seems like simple cold or fever can turn out to be something worse that is affecting you badly and you are not aware of it.Better be treated than wait till worst.Get well soon and don't forget to see a doctor, happy myLotting!

My mom is a very good nurse (although she is not a real one). She knows the exact medicine we need for our sickness but when things go beyond normal, it is best to consult a real doctor because minor sickness sometimes are symptoms for a much worse one. Colds usually last for 1 or 2 weeks only but since yours is more than a month now, it is better to ask your doctor for help. Better to be sure than sorry.

I do take self medication for simple things but if it persists then I go to the doctor. but I try not to run to the doctor at the first sign of illness and also give the illness some time to heal on its own before I start medication, like for colds or stomach aches etc.

Definitely you should see your doctor a cold can typically last a few weeks and are usually viral , but if you have symptoms that are worsening you may have a bacterial infection. These bacterial infections can worsen and cause other complications. You may need antibiotics to get rid of the infection. Typically if a cough or cold symptoms persist greater than 1 week you should see your doctor. As for myself if I have a sore throat that persists greater than 3 days, a cough that persists greater than 1 week, vomiting or diarrhea over 48 hours, or any cold symptoms accompanied by fever over 24 hours I go to the doctor. I do some over the counter medications but sometimes they usually just cover up symptoms and never get rid of what is causing them. Margarit see your doctor at least to make sure that there is nothing serious going on.

If your cold is more than a month and persistent, then I think you should go to the doctor. You might need other medicines for your cold. I discourage you to self medicate. It's always safe to go to the doctor.

Yes you are right, Doctor knows best for they studied very well for medication. I thinks i should do it now for fast cure and relief. Self medication is not always safe so better see an expert for this. Thanks for responding.
