Comfortable, But Worn & Ugly/Disgusting

I was reading a response to a discussion and I thought of this one. Do you wear or have anything that is just old worn and just plain ugly and disgusting looking and you do not won't to throw away or part with? I have a pair of shoes, they are just plain worn and ugly, the tongue of shoe hangs out over the top of the shoe. I have cut the sides and back out of the shoes, they are comfortable and I just love my disgusting shoes. My neighbor saw me in my shoes and he threaten to throw them away if he ever gets his hands on them. I had a robe once it had turned to strings I just closed my eyes and threw it in the waste basket. One of my co-workers has a pair of jeans with holes all over them and she said her friend told her she should get rid of them she has gotten all the use out of those jean. How about you do you have something worn and ugly that you hate to depart with?

Yep, I have a pair of old shoes, also. I wear them around the house almost every day. I go outside and do my gardening in them. I wear them when I cut the grass. They're disgusting to look at, but they're comfortable and great for anything I want to do. I usually won't wear them to do any shopping, though. I'd hate to have someone staring at my shoes! If they're going to notice me, I want them to notice ME, not my ugly, worn, dirty shoes! Back in the 70's, it was cool to patch up your jeans when they got a hole in them instead of throwing them away. I'd put patches on top of patches if they were a pair of my favorite jeans. It seems that, with jeans, the older they get, the better they feel and, just when they feel as good as they can, they start to split or get holes in them. It's not 'in fashion' to patch up old clothes today, but I loved it when it was okay and everyone was doing it. These days, if I have a pair of comfortable jeans that get holes in the knees or something, I'll cut off the legs and make shorts out of them. Yeah, I hate to throw out some things that I've had for years and are just plain comfy simply because they're shredded beyond repair. It's like saying goodbye to an old friend.

oh yes... i do have old jeans, pyjamas, sandals and shoes as well that i like and don't want to throw away as well because it is too comfy... so i just wear them when i am at home and only my hubby sees them... i don't care if my hubby sees them because he doesn't mind and won't comment on them... i won't throw away something that i can still use no matter how ugly and worn out it is... especially in a recession time like this... every single penny counts and i have to watch my budget very carefully... take care and have a nice day...

Hi Chevee, I had an old worn out night dress, it was so comfy but in the end it ripped so I had to use it as a duster first then my husband used it wipe his bikes. It is really hard to part with something that you are so comfortable with, now I have an old slppers that I won't part with and I have four new slippers my friends bought me. I'm a stubborn so an so. Love & Hugs. Tamara

Well I had those comfy t-shirts that I used to wear for sleep. Unfortunately they were already too thin that it had to be thrown out.It really didn't look anything disgusting, just thin like if it gets wet you body could be seen. LOL

Hi chevee! Oh, yes I have! But, not anymore! I finally threw all my old raggedy stuff out in the trash! But, not after many threats from many people wanting to throw out things for me! I had a girlfriend who actually took a dress that I had away from me so that she would make sure that it got thrown out! I think she took some shirts too! I've had many things like you described that I just couldn't part with! Don't people understand? I guess not. Well, this last week I was cleaning out my closet to switch my summer clothes to my winter clothes and I took a good look at some of my things. They were discolored and some of them were brand new with tags on them! I had never even worn them! I had them for so many years hanging in the closet that they just got faded with age! So I threw 2 hugh garbage bags of clothes out without looking back! I'm ok with it. I will just replace them next year!

Hi! I have this black shirt that has a very nice shape and is flattering to the body. I have had it for five years now. It's already worn out and the color is not black anymore, but I still could not get myself to throw it away. I actually still wear it outside when I want to just take a walk around the city, or whenever I see a movie. Even if there would be holes on it, I guess I would just use it as a house shirt. Happy myLotting!

Hi Chevee, This time I have an old purse that I do not like to throw and oftentimes I am still using it..It's not very old though but the lock is destroyed already and when I will use it, it's very open, i will use a clip sometimes! LOL! But, I can't afford to throw it, it has sentimental value for me!

I have 2 spongebob t-shirts that are so ragged they are falling apart...literally...you can't possibly wear them but I won't throw them away b/c my Mom bought them for me so they just hang in my closet. My Mom also has a nightgown/robe that is so old I had to patch it b/c it was just falling apart but she loves it and won't get rid of it. Chevee, For shoes, I will make sure that the soles are fine before deciding on its fate. I have worn out sneakers with good soles which I will wear out for casual outings to the beach, parks or simple weekend shopping trips. Especially shopping trips, I can have them out in a second to try out new shoes and whiff them back after. No hassle and certainly very comfortable throughout the day for me. As for jeans, I would still prefer the worn out ones. It is just normal. Besides, most of us are buying stone washed jeans off the racks and my worn outs are equally attractive and much more comfy than the ones on sale. Ha! However, I will not keep too much of it as that would clout my wardrobe and shoe cabinets. So, I will donate the excess and make room for a new purchase. As the saying goes: How can the new come in, when the old does not go? Great post here and have a nice day.

Well Yes,I had a blue color outfit. That happens to be my favourite color. And every time I wore it I used to see my first crush. He was a final year student so hardly turns up to college. So whenever I felt like seeing I wore them and will definitely see him on that day But the saddest part is I've never spoken with him, don't know his name even And now the dress is not in a good condition, but I din't want to throw it away inspite of my mom insisting me to do it. It keeps reminding me of him everytime.I really don't know what I really felt for him

I don't have anything really ugly. But I do have a few comfortable and holey shirts or pajamas with missing buttons. Of course I only wear those to sleep so that no one can make fun of me. My mom even threatened to rip one of my favorite t-shirts because it had so many holes already. But I like the holes! They add character to the shirt. :)

there are so many worn and ugly. i either throw them away or i will still use them as a cleaning cloth or a rag. anyways, i don't like wearing them any more. i don't want to be seen by other people wearing those kind of clothes or accessories. cause i feel that i may look ridiculous to be in those kind of accessories or clothing. i make it a point that i will be decent enough to look at so that people will not think that i don't have the time to care for myself

I don't have anything like that, any more. I did have a robe that my mother in law gave me one year, just before my daughter was born. I wore that thing, every morning. I let my kids turn it inside out and wear it when they wanted to paint. I wrapped them up in it , after they had their baths, and were ready for bed. It smelled like Mommy , and it helped them to fall asleep. It was brushed cotton on the outside, soft terry cloth on the inside. It was so worn out that the back side of it was worn through to the terry cloth on the butt area, the outside of it was in shreds, but I still wore it. Two years ago, hubby gave me a new robe for Christmas, so I reluctantly threw the old one away. I had that thing for 21 years.
