Haunted houses - TRICK or TREAT? (and not for the faint of heart!)

Have you ever been to one of the themed haunted houses/mazes that opens either stand-alone or within a theme park close to Halloween? What do you think, TRICK or TREAT? I went to my first one this year - on Saturday in fact. I thought it was excellent, the access to the mazes and other halloween goodies was only $5 - although I had to pay for a regular park access ticket for the rest of the day. If you like being scared it's pretty fun, there were people hired who were dressed up and went around scaring guests. I got targetted by a creepy guy with a shovel, a creepy guy with claws, and one on skates - he got a kick out of chasing people. Whatever was on the bottom of his stops was causing scraping noises and sparks in the dark, which made it even creepier!

I have never been to one as a guest. I did help out with one many years ago that my ex-wife was involved with. It seemed like just about everyone that went through the "house" was scared a little bit and all had lots of fun

It really was excellent, and I might be the oldest person to have never tried going in one lol. I would definitely do it again! I am worried though, I heard again that the park (Magic Mountain) may go under because they cannot make back at least their operating costs. I am glad I went just in case I don't get an opportunity to go again next year.

I cannot imagine Magic Mountain having any difficulty in making more than enough money to cover things. Especially given the arm and the leg it takes just to get into the park . Them and Disneyland and Knott's. They must think we here in California are all rich or something! By the way, how's the wind on the other side of this desert? It's blowing like crazy over here in the Antelope Valley

It was a LOT of fun! I've never been to a freestanding one, those tend to be more expensive, but they also might be much bigger and take a half hour or so to get through. I was more scared out of surprise - people coming up behind me without me knowing or chasing me - than being truly scared because I was afraid for my life lol.

I'm not too much into halloween. I guess because it wasn't celebrated in where I grew up. I sometimes forget about it until the day comes along - which was not too good specially when my kids were younger :) However, I think I would have fun in something like that but I never visited one. I"m sure it would be a treat:):)

i went to 2 in my life.. 1st one was done by bikers that raise money for kids and that was was scary because at the end they grabbed one of our group and had grabbed me and i ran like hell but the other person was stuck behind so i was screaming that they killed him lol.. 2nd one.. ugh.. it was horrible!! expensive and i went with a friend but ended up being stuck with a drunk i didnt know that swore he was scared and saw me holding her hand and figured i could comfort him and grabbed my hand and dragged me through the whole thing.. which of course him dragging me made me pay less attention and so i didnt see where people were about to jump out at me and i kept screaming at everything when im not one to get startled at all (except for the kidnapping thing in the first one lol) so i looked like a big baby and this guy kept talking to me when we got out of there and im trying to get him to leave me alone.. top the night off i lost my one and only asthma inhaler and kept having asthma problems and had to run and get it filled and it ruined the clubbing we were gonna do afterwards
