Like most of the ppl in the world, I like to talk. I talk to my Hubby, my Mom, and other family members. I talk to cashiers and baggers at the stores and ppl that open a door for me. I talk to the mailman and neighbors sometimes. So I got to thinking this morning...what if the whole world quit talking for one day? Not a word uttered by anyone. Could you make it through an entire day without talking? Would you resort to note writing to get your thoughts across? Could you stand the silence of no one speaking? How long do you think you could go before you had to speak? ~~IN SEARCH OF PEACE WITHIN~~ **AGAINST THE STORMS, I WILL STAND STRONG**

Hey twoey! I don't know! I'm like you! I like to talk too! I also talk to everyone! I am just friendly like that! And people seem to talk to me wherever I go. I don't know how I would feel if I couldn't talk for a day. I mean there have been days when I haven't really felt like speaking, but to not speak at all! I don't think I could do it! It sure would be very difficult. Once I leave the house I speak to people on the street, animals anyone who wants to talk or even ones that don't. I would have a very hard time with that. I am naturally a friendly person and I wouldn't like having to be kept silent!

I wouldn't even last 5 minutes twoey! I talk all the time too, i like talking to people, especially if i can make them smile! It would be eerily quiet in the world if nobody was allowed to talk! I think i'd definitely resort to writing notes or doing some sort of sign language before too long!! xxx

Honestly i think i could. I spend a lot of time on the computer. Most of my friends are from the internet. I used to have a bunch of real life friends but they all had babies and now i'm not important to them for some reason. I could do all my talking Via IM The only thing i would be bothered by is not being able to speak to my boyfriend. He lives with me though and is also on the computer a lot..... we play the same game. I could still talk to him via IM though :)

I can't stand keeping silence for a long time. If at some very time, there is anyone that I can talk to, I guess I will talk to myself. Lol I am not crazy though

I could but would not like it. I like to talk and I will talk to anyone, even strangers. My husband will say, after I have had a conversation with a stranger, "Who was that?" and I will say, "I don't know." He will ask, "Why were you talking to them?" I will say, "Because they were there!"

Good for you! Sometimes those people need someone to talk to them. I've been known to keep a salesperson on the phone for over an hour talking about their problems. They were trying to sell me something, and I can't even remember what now. However, most days I do just talk to my cats. lol

Not a chance in the world could i go a whole day...heck i cant go an hour..maybe half hour if im lucky. When I was a kid my grandmother got me a tshirt that said...HELP IM TALKING AND I CANT SHUT UP...then as an adult a friend got me one that said HELP IM ON THE PHONE AND I CANT SHUT UP...do you see a pattern here? LOL. Also my nickname as a kid was Jabber Jaws...so no i couldnt go long without talking and the silence would drive me mad, if everyone around me never spoke.

I not much of a talker. I can go a long time without talking to anyone. I'm usually the one who just sits and listens when other people are talking. When I was in first grade the nuns at school told my mom they were worried about me because I was so quiet, but I feel more comfortable being quiet. Most of my friends are talkers, which works out well because they talk, and I listen. I do talk to my dogs, because it seems to make them happy.

There are days where it seems like I don't talk since I am by myself most of the day. But I do have TV or music on so I hear that. I could probably go most of the day without talking and I am sure I would use a notepad before the day was over.

Once I would have said yes but now I doubt it. I even speak my thoughts aloud sometimes now so it is unlikely I could get through a day and say nothing. I could try just writing but there is a problem reading my writing and it would take ages to do so I think I will keep to a mix of talking and writing.

The feeling would not be nice. Living in France, not many will speak English to you, so when i first moved over here (i'm from the UK), i found out just how hard not speaking can really be.

I could probably actually do this, go without talking for a day. I love silence, and often hate to talk, so I really could go a day without talking. It would be bliss, my house would be so quiet, the kids would not be able to shout and scream all the time! I would be able to go for about 24 hours before I had to speak I reckon.

I am like you, I talk to everyone, waiting in line at the groceries, mailman, people in the local store, you name it. My husband is always saying that I will talk to anyone, I even talk to animals I have been quiet all day when I was angry with my husband, but if it is a national day of silence, not quite sure I can make it, but I would give it a try.

There is a certain actor here in the Philippines who does not speak for three days as part of his Holy week Sacrifice. From what we saw on tv I know it is very hard not even to talk for one whole day. Even if we are alone, we still talk to ourselves but not uttering a single word even when you're all alone might drive most people nuts. That actor by the way communicates through writing and he even rejects calls during that time.

no I already talk to the cats if nobody else is around, if nothing else to tell them to get out of my way.

That would be a very interesting experience. In monasteries of all religions they have silent periods and I have been at meditation groups where we had a few hours of silence. The mind chatters away for a while, then all thoughts seem to stop and suddenly everything becomes so peaceful and calm - a truly beautiful experience. I have practised daily meditation ever since :-)

Hi Twoey68! I think I would explode! You just can't make me not talk. You just can't!! I would probably do the dry erase board. I can write just about as fast as I can talk so this just might work out. I would explode after about 2 hours. I mean, I can "not" talk first thing in the morning while waiting for the coffee to brew. After that, I'd give in. Really good topic!!

Hmmm....I believe that actions speaks louder than words. Sometimes I wished I can't talk bcoz most ppl when they talk, it hurts other ppl's feelings. But of coz, there's a pro and cons when you stop speaking. If we don't talk , some difficulities will occur as an example , how you want to express your feelings to your love ones? But on the other hand, when you are not talking the actions will shows how sincere a person is....As I said earlier, I choose not to speak rather than speaking....lol...
