amongst many romantic movies, we can find that the relationship between a disable person with a normal or other disable person can create a very romantic and touching movie. it's against the standard of ancient romantic movies, which mostly involved a beautiful young girl and a handsome young guy, or some similar compositions. the nominee are: 1. deaf-mute : in "Children of a Lesser God", starring : Marle Matlin and William Hurt. 2. mentally retarded : in "Forrest Gump", starring : Tom Hanks, Robin Wright. 3. psychopath : in "The Silence of The Lambs", starring : Anthony Hopkins, Jodie Foster. what do you think? which is amongst the three you consider the most romantic movie involving disability? or you have other nominee or even other winner?

I think that any movie where someone is blind and in love is the most romantic. There's something very personal and sensual about having to use touch for sight.

Hi SutanHartanto, Your discussion (this one) make me think for a week before responding. I have to memories all my favorite movie that have disability at heart or body. All these movie makes me: "a major weeper" I recommending .. yes, "Forrest Gump". Same reason as you, no doub. "The Color Purple" played by Whoopi Goldberg, It really touch my heart. How ugly girls got treated different way than ugly one. How Celie continue her life with hope that one day she will bound together again with her sister. "Lorenzo's oil" played by Susan Saradon. She's a mother of Lorenzo, You must see this movie! How strong and week at the same time Lorenzo fight his ill, and his mom never leave him aside. How she encourage Lorenzo and parents that have child the same desease as Lorenzo. For a cartoon; "The Swan Lake" this touch my heart when i was kid. The witch turn Odette into a swan and a handsome prince rescue her. Odette was hided in a big cage up in the tower."Scent of a Woman" played by Al Pacino as a blind man and teach everything he know about women to a young man. And the list will continue when i found one.Happy posting always!! oxoxxoxoxox'dian from Bali island.

Oh my!! I like romantic movie but agree with hilia I don't think that silence of the lamb is something romantic. I guess you should put Beauty and the Beast, because it is a romantic movie with someone with the disability to be looked like a human being. And Little Mermaid too, because the woman has the disability to walk because she had no feet but fin LOL.

Oh, i forget Beauty and the Beast. yes i agree with you, that's really romantic. And Little Mermaid LOL, you are really funny yet unpredictable LOL. ok, of course having no feet is a disability. What about Kingkong? It have a disability : being too big LOL. And Superman. I think he is a little bit insane. No normal man uses underwear outside his trousers.

For me, I'd vote for "Flowers For Algernon". Very touching romantic disability movie with a painful twist in the end. I am pretty sure that I got a moral lesson of the said movie's summary plot.
