Being a teacher is not easy...

To be a teacher is not easy its simply because my husband is a teacher. Eversince we"ve started our life as couple i saw his sacrifices of bringing home his test papers to check, lesson plan to do and other paperworks. He spend all night long especially when he is working with grades. Aside from being a subject teacher he is coaching ball games in thier school, and not only that he is a choir mentor. Because he has a talent in music of being instrumentalist. He plays guitar also.

yeah i agree... i do have 2 kids, i do teach them their lessons... i dont do lesson plans coz i do supports for their lessons in school, but having only 2 students (my kids), it's eating a lot of my time, what more the teachers who teach not only 2 students but a lot more.... considering students in a class come from different families with different characteristics, and different learning styles... that's why i will give thumbs up to all teachers who are willing to assist kids and help parents in probing the kids not only academically but also socially and spiritually...

Exactly you're right friend with different families , attitude and behavior in one classroom, wow! that's make my head blown! Anyway teaching is fun and exciting. But needs lot of patience. About your 2kids what a lovely to teach them an ABC and NOS. Anyway keep to be their teacher and more power to your family. Thanks and have a pleasant evening!

I am a primary school teacher and being with the children from 9 to until 3 is like the tip of the iceberg. I have to spend time planning, marking work and reporting on progress. When it is exam time or report writing time it can take lots more time than normal. Yes, being a teacher is not easy like you know because your husband is a teacher.

I have a lot of respect for those who teach as it is not an easy job and really is a vocation. I do believe you need to have some life experience before you go into teaching to be good. People don't realise how much unpaid extra hours teachers do. It can be a thankless job which is why I have been hesitant in becoming one. Once I work out which age group I would like to teach I will go all out for it. What is better than inspiring young minds?

I agree that being a teacher is not an easy job to do. You are not only teaching but you should also be a role model to the youth. They look up to you and you have to study day by day so you were able to know about new things you can share to your students. Not to mention that you have to see to it that you have a effective way of teaching so that every student will have a high grades. You are expected to do your best and that alone is already stressful.

I agree with you. I have a friend who happens to be our substitute teacher way back in college is teaching English in our school. She has already experienced the life of an secondary teacher. Told you that it was pretty challenging to her because she just graduated that time and she already handled secondary students. Actually it was a public school and students tend to behave like bystanders. Every time she will have a quarter finals I will offer to encode her test papers (excepts when I was still under her class) because I really pity her for doing so much work. Imagine 60-70 students in one class. She has 6 sections all-in-all. I really admired her because even at a young age (22 years old) she managed to discipline her students (some of them were older than her). And now she transferred to an international school. She always tells me that she is already tired but still she is there teaching. What can I do she really loves teaching. All I can offer to her is my support.

Yes, being a good teacher is not easy. The lesson plans, paper checking, teaching the right way and character building of the students are jobs of responsibility and of due care. Although every job or profession is not easy but being a teacher is the noblest of all and the happiness you get by the progress of your students is unmatchable to any other happiness in the world...

Being a teacher is definitely NOT easy! Aside from teaching, they have tremendous paper works to work on. When I was new in teaching, I do the same thing with your husband: bringing school work at home but as years pass by, I've learned that we must never bring our job home because when we are at home, we must spend time with the family and not with the job. I decided to create a time table and do all the jobs, recording I can make during my break time and if I won't be finished with my work, I'd extend 1 or 2 hours more till I get the job done so that tomorrow, I am off to a new start.

Wow, he is really talented and have many skills.. Yes, being a teacher is not really easy because I had experienced being a teacher during my practicum.. I also do the same thing as he do like checking papers, making a lesson plan, making table of specification for the exams, and the most difficult part is grading the students.. As a teacher, of course it is really hard to fail student (aside from those who really deserves to fail) so in order to help that student you need to think other special works to him/her to be able to gain extra points in his/her grades... Then you need to keep on reviewing the subject matter that you are teaching so that you may able to explain the topic to the student in a very easy way so that they will understand it.. It really gives me a headache.. Well,to be a teacher is never my dream but since my parents can't afford to send me in the course I like I just took the scholarship given by the school..So, for 4 years I am a scholar of full tuition, miscellaneous and other fees.. Yes, its all free for as long as I maintain the required grades... I'm proud to say that I graduated from college with a scholar.. Anyway, back to the topic.. Well, again as what I've mention above being a teacher isn't my dream so after I graduated I apply from the companies and happy to say that I am qualified.. I am working now as a graphic artist in one of the hotel company in our country.. I cannot say that I'm happy with my job since I know that I am not happy... I feel that it seems there's lacking and I don't know why.. If your thinking that I should teach, well I think that's not what I'm looking since I know that from the beginning that I don't really want to be a teacher 'cause I don't want make my life difficult with all those kind of job then will less salary.. It is really hard to be a teacher and I know that I can't really be a teacher.. Actually, some of my friends told me that that after the school year they will find already another job because they can't take the works/job.. The more I don't want to pursue the course that I've finished.. Anyway, I admire your husband because he have that kind of skills, talent and traits.. I know that he can be a very successful teacher since he really love his job..

Until another school called for his service again as a teacher. He almost want to quite teaching but they are following my husband where ever he go. So I said to him Your really a teacher and that is your vocation. Not being a priest (ex seminarian) now educator. m Thanks to you friend it's been a long time.......... I am not a teacher but I agree that being a teacher is hard and requires lots of mental strength and patience. Last night on the news, I watched how to female students confronted and assaulted their teacher just because they were asked to explain why they did not complete their homework assignments and why they wrote some bad words on the pages of their exercise books. I remember when I was in school, I would never fight with my teacher and if I did something bad, I would be punished by the teacher and the teacher would then call my parents and they would punish me too. Nowadays, if a student was punished by the teacher, he or she would tell his or her parents and the parents would call or come to school and scold the teacher instead. Some of the parents have even threatened or sue teachers for punishing their kids for bad behaviors. Time has definitely change and by looking at it, things would not be good for the students in the long run or for their future as if they can't respect their teachers, how can they respect anybody or anything else? I hope parents are more involved in educating their kids and not try to blame the school or the teachers all the time. Cheers!

You are absolutely right friend. The changes from being a good students ti their teacher now it twisted a lot. Now a days many of the students do not respect their teacher. Maybe because of the influence of others that they are only teacher and they made them for earnings. That was others reason. So, really lot of sacrifices. Anyway friend thank you for your response and have a nice day!

i know that... i used to be an assistant lecturer and teach private tuition as well back in my home country and i really have to sacrifice my time a lot for my students... i bring their homework and exam paper home to mark them and i also prepare the lecture notes and assignment from home... so it is not easy at all and really time consuming... but it is a very honorable job... take care and have a nice day...

I agree. A friend of mine (who happens to be a teacher/professor in college) told me that being a teach is indeed a sacrifice, the full gratification is seeing the kids you teach grow up to be good and successful people. But monetary-wise, no one every became rich as a teacher. I think it's really a humble job. Not getting the praises one deserves, but being a teacher is really an important job or profession. It's actually a vocation for all. I've always wanted to teach. It's my passion, but time didn't allow me to be one and I pursued another field. But come school opening, I'm meaning to apply for a teaching position partime, because I've seen the ill-effects of young teachers who only focus on books and could not even show experience. I don't mean to look down on them, but most especially if you're teaching your students in college, you need to think out of the box. When I was younger, I respect teachers for their ability to teach, the vastness of their intellect and maturity. I didn't like teachers who just graduated, I don't think they have the right to teach college students who are at their age range. This is why I opted not to teach a few years back. I think students deserves teachers who have something to say and not just something to read. Yes, being a teacher is a humbling experience. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think even if we're not teachers per se, we do teach. We teach our family, we teach our kids, we teach our co workers or employees. So, I think it's high time we gave our services to the school or profession which helped us for who we are today. To all the teachers! I salute and appreciate your sacrifices. =)

after working temporarily in our school's lunch room last year i had an eye opening experience of what these teachers put up with all day long. there are far more children than teachers and they have a huge responsibility that we entrust them with. there are some there that have been teaching for nearly 40 years and are so dedicated to the children and their vocation. it amazes me really.

your husband is too busy, but we have to accept that being a teacher we have do be more patient at all time because there are students are misbehaving in classroom and sometimes they do disturbances to their classmates so it is a lot of patient in order to manage the classroom. some teachers make a move that they might give them a bad record or might be kick out in school. the teacher is also like a student that they still study the lesson before they teach to their students because if you are not prepared a lesson plan you will not be a good teacher to them.

Yes, he is too much busy that"s why he forced by himself to resigned. The reason is having a law rate income. As far as I know teacher are not well compensated especially if you are in private school. But that was not in general. There maybe a location that thier rate was below average. Anyway teacher is a vocation. And its not required only for them just to earn but to help people who would like to learn. :)

Yes being a teacher is very hard work and the job is never ending. I was a teacher myself and my husband is still a teacher. He works every hour of the day justlike your husband. It is a job that is becoming more difficult nowadays especially with mis behaviour at school. My husband is a computer teacher and teaches teenagers, I think teaching teenagers is becoming more difficult nowadays! Many times the work of a teacher is not appreciated at all.

The hard labor they have but the compensation low. I honor and salute all dedicated teachers one thing I noticed is they are not well compensated and I really sad about that. Thank you friend and God bless you!
