Firefox vs IE

Are you a Firefox user? I am a Firefox user. I have used Firefox for many years now and I have never looked back since then. However, do you know that IE is still the most popular web browser out there? According to the survey IE still hold more than 70% of the web browser usage in the world. I just wrote about this on my blog (check my profile for the link). In my opinion, there are two main reasons for this. The first one is due to the fact that most people choose Microsoft Windows OS for their computers as Windows is more user friendly to the common people compared to Mac or Linux. Since IE comes installed with Windows, the user need to do very minor setting to use it to get connected to the internet. Some vendors would even help set up IE for internet connection without any extra charge for a new computer. Secondly, which is directly related to to the first reason, most people do not know that they can run multiple web browser on a single computer. Most people are afraid to install other web browser because they thought that once they have done that, their IE can no longer be used and therefore, they could not use IE anymore if they do not like the new web browser that they installed. I myself did not know that multiple web browsers can be run on a single computer and it took me quite sometimes before I learned that multiple web browsers can be run even at the same time on a single computer. Right after I knew that, I installed Firefox and I am using that as my main web browser while IE and Chrome are only used for test loading my blog. So, especially, for those who have sites or blogs on the internet, do not dismiss IE. Make sure that your site and blog are test loaded on IE so that it would have no problem. Since more than 72% of internet users are using IE, you do not want them to skip your site or blog as that would be a huge loss for you. What do you think of this?

I use Firefox because i am a Linux user. IE has very nasty issues with some open-source CMSs. Some Joomla templates for example don't display nice in IE and there's also the PNG transparency issue that needs to be resolved. Firefox has tons of extensions you can install, is not only faste but also open-source. It can run on anything with a CPU, from a PC to a PDA to an Internet tablet. IE's luck is that it is delivered with Windows. if it weren't for that, it's market share would e below 5%.

When i first learned about firefox i thought it was another junk program, you know those programs they build into new computers to get you to use their stuff. It was on a computer i was working on and i really didn't understand how it worked. But when I started using it, and saw how easy it was to organize my bookmarks, toolbars and all of my browser information I WAS HOOKED. Now i play with all the add ons and other cool stuff. FIRE FOX ROCKS! for sure over Explorer. I had to smile when i saw the FOX eating the E on that logo...GOOD ONE!! :) cbiznetz

I don't Like Internet Explorer 7 as it is very Slow. I Love Firefox and do everything including my myhpf searches too. I always download the Latest Version at this time it is 3.0.3. I am one of the biggest Firefox fans and have my whole family to use firefox. I do own a blog at blogger but who cares about IE I have made my blog to look correctly even on Firefox(which was tough though). I LOVE FIREFOX!!!

Firefox is faster than IE , but when it comes to Security concerns IE is safer than Firefox..., some sites will not open in Firefox, especially transactions sites...etc.

I would agree with that! IE is less secured compared to FF... Cheers!

Actually Firefox is more secure than IE, because it doesn't support things like Microsoft's ActiveX which is a source of security issues with IE. Also Firefox can use SSL 256 if the website that you are using also uses SSL 256, which is way more secure than SSL 128 which is the best encryption level that IE supports. (IE7 may support SSL 256, but I don't think it does) The reason that some transaction sites like bank sites don't work/don't work right w/ Firefox is that they are not designed to work w/ both IE and Firefox. I am familiar w/ this myself, because I have to use IE to log in to my bank account (it is a smaller regional bank), but I can use Firefox to log into my Capital 1 CC account. Jed

I find it hard to believe that IE is still a popular browser. I think that the survey result is a bit inflated. It has to be read with a pinch of salt. On has to remember who are the persons behind it in order to interpret it well. Since a gross percentage use IE I would make sure that my site is compatible with it too. However I do have my doubts about the survey results.

The results actually came from multiple sources and all the sources give out almost the same percentage where IE is still the most popular. Check out my blog in my profile and look for the entry called Internet Explorer is Still Popular and there is a link to the source of this information. Cheers!

I do not really know why but my experience with Opera is not really that pleasant and therefore, it has never been in my choice of a web browser. Cheers!

hi bro, I could not agree more. Firefox is still the best even with Chrome introduction. I have been using Firefox since it was created. With a lot of addons and tool bar that are compatible with Firefox, make it easier to browse and check email. IE has follow Firefox. With introduction of tab and rss feed. The ultimate reason that my IE is still in my PC..I want to test my blog/website appearance. That's it.:) lankapo.com

When my parents first got a computer and the internet we had Internet Explorer but I could not stand it,it was so slow, and it took forever to get things done, and it even caused our computer to get a virus,my half brother recommended we download Firefox and we did,and I am so glad we did, because it is awesome,it is very fast when it comes to browsing the web,it is very safe, and we have not had a single problem out of it,and it allows me to have several tabs open at once so I can accomplish multiple tasks all at one time which improves my accuracy,I believe that people would use Internet Explorer because it is easier, and because they do not want to change but I think more people should check out Firefox because they would be glad they did.

Definitilly Firefox. The addons, the possibility to save sessions, the security... I could cite more reasons. But IE was my first browser so i'll stop.
