I have just read that the late Pope John Paul was wounded by a knife-wielding priest in 1982, a year after he was shot in St Peter's Square, but the injury was kept secret, his former top aide says in a documentary film. It is a big surprise to me that crazed ultra-conservative Spanish priest, that the Pope was hurt but it was kept a secret until now. Pope john Paul 2 was a great man of the 20th century whether you agree with his religious creed or not. What do you think about this story!

I heard that news. I was still a single woman then I just don't understand why his being wounded has to be kept secret! What for! It's better to have had been announced so that his fellow Catholics could have had prayed altogether for his recovery. Sometimes I don't understand some decisions made by Churches. Oh well, they are entitled to that but just asking...why?

Hi ronaldinu, How convenient to have keep it secret, just like they keep everything secret, I think it was kept secret because it was a fellow priest who stab the pope, so how many secrets has the vatican have? makes you wonder. Tamara

Wow!! I dind't know about this until you mentioned it. A knife wielding priest? What the heck? That's got to be one of the craziest things I've ever heard. I hope he was kicked out of his position for that. I can't believe the crazy things that some people will do. What did he think he was going to gain by stabbing the Pope?
