1) Focus on the economy by first looking at the bailout package close and fixing it. Currently it really does not address the economic problems at the level required instead it focuses on bailing out banks and wall street. We need to determine the underlying problems and fix them. Invigorate business, encourage the market, if necessary roll back taxes on small to medium business to encourage growth.
2) Jobs! One issue is immigration and this isn't just illegal immigration but the entire H1B program as well. Hundreds of thousands of legal immigrants enter this country every year sucking up jobs that could be filled by US citizens. Lets invigorate our economy by ensuring that US citizens are put back to work. Shut down the H1B program for all but the "necessary" skills and I assure you manufacturing, IT, Car Rental Agent, Hotel Desk Clerk, Airport Security, and a host of other skilled and unskilled jobs are not "necessary" H1B positions that Americans are incapable of or unwilling to perform.
As an add on to this lets take a look at all the foreign companies that are doing business in the US but not employing US citizens. Why are they not held to the same standard of hiring practices as a US company? This goes directly to the IT industry but lets look at TATA, Wippro, Infosys, and others who are not only the receipients of the most H1B visas each year but who are also taking over the IT industry lock-stock-and barrel. This is just one area but it represents thousands of jobs both on and off shore.
3) Energy - get us off foreign dependence. Lets get practical here. It won't happen in four years but come up with a plan that can and will be achieved in 10 and start down a path that will show progress in four.
4) The war, ok nobody wants to hear this but get us out of the $$. Be responsible about how we remove troops but be firm about who needs to foot the bill for our continued support of the rebuild. While we are there lets get to doing something right also - find and kill Bin Laden!
5) Education, fix it now. We have the most expensive and the worst results. One of the reasons we are failing is there is no national standard for teachers. Fix it. Another reason we are failing is we don't focus on core educational standards - Math, literacy, Science, Technology. Fix it. Look at the countries that are passing us up and follow suit.
Invest in our future! This means invest in our children and their education. Stop thinking it is someone elses problem. It is all of our problem. College should not be the priveledge of the wealthy. College should not mean a second mortgage. College should be attainable for every single person able to pass an entrance examination who has the will to sustain learning! Make it so.
6) Health Care - enough already. We must make certain that every legal citizen of the US has affordable health care available to them. We must insure that every child is provided immunization. We must provide the means for every adult to insure their family against catastrophy. The reality is that a $5,000 tax credit doesn't get the job done when a policy to insure a family of four costs significantly more than that and has to be paid every month. God help you if you have a pre-existing condition, no insurance for you. God help you if you take medicine, no insurance for you. God help you if you lose your job Cobra will wipe you out and when that runs out - you guessed it if you have seen the doctor recently for anything other than a cold - no insurance for you either.

Well the economy is one main thing and the lowering or even suspending for a period of time of the capital gain tax would make a big difference and this is part of what I have emailed to every representative in government I could for the past couple of months because it has been a proposal of a large number of very intelligent American's who understand the market. Then people will start buying stock again. With the issues of Iraq we need someone to keep us on track. In the past few months we have gotton further than we have in years and we will be able to withdraw this coming year. Get the Iraqi people fighting with us at their boarders so we can finish up the job in neighboring countries. Just recently we started pulling out of what use to be the most violent area. Next we need to get the drilling going so the gas prices will go down due to the markets being changed up and investors no longer betting on the government limiting the amount of supply up the price. We need to get the nuclear plants back up and running and that will produce employment. We need to get going on all other energy resources that will also create more jobs.
We the citizens of America need to starting voting out of office those who closed their eyes to the corruption that started all of this problem with the loan companies loaning money to those who really couldn't afford it and were locked into out of control intreast rates.

I really do want the economy to get better, because I know a lot of people are hurting and losing their homes, but I'm sure it will. I want the war to end, we don't need it. I also want the environment and new energy solutions to be fixed up and fast, it's probably the most important thing because if there is no air to breathe, there is no economy or anything else. Then we all die.
