My cat is mean!

My cat is so mean, its like he gets mad at the smallest things. He is sweet when he wants to go to sleep. He will wait for me to go to bed and then curl up on my pillow next to my head. But when he doesn't want to sleep, he like to hide in the doorways and grab your legs when you walk by. He does it more to my boyfriend than me. He also grabs my boyfriend's feet and just bites them for no reason. He also doesn't seem to like being petted too often. What should I do to make him nicer and more loving?

Has he been neutered I read this in the news paper from a vet? Cats that are spayed or neutered are friendlier to people and develop closer human bonds than intact cats.

Yeah, I've been wanting to get him neutered but I don't think that my boyfriend wants him to be. I will probably end up having to get it done when he gets older and possible more aggressive.

I do not know what to tell you about how to tame your cat down, except to scold him, tell him he is a bad kitty. My cat is not like this, he is very tame and wants to be petted at all times. Maybe your kitty will outgrow this when he gets older.

I hope so. I love how cats are loving and want to curl up in your lap.

I wouldn't call your cat mean but mischievous because he's playing and doesn't realize that he hurts you two with his claws. He's just being silly and it's a way for him to get your attention to play along with him. Some cats never out grow their playfulness and some do however, when they get older, they don't play as much. Same with being petted, he wants to play not be petted. He doesn't mean any harm, trust me on that. He just wants your attention to play with him. Also getting him nuetered will help a GREAT deal because when they're in tact then they're more aggressive and territorial which is one of their natural traits. Get him fixed and you'll see a big difference in his attitude in a week or so depending on his age too. What ever you do, please do NOT get him declawed for it is very cruel and painful to the cat. I have 10 cats at the moment and would never ever consider doing that to any of them. Scratching posts are the way to go as well and a little catnip to encourage him to use it. Good luck!!
