when you feel down what do you like to do to pick yourself up

we all get depressed or sad at some point. what do you like to do to get feeling good again. some people like to shop, eat, dance, sing etc. i like to write. i can sit down with paper and pen and just write everything out by teh end of it i usally feel better. the radio helps too. i like to sing i just dont like people hearing me lol. i use to sing really good when i was younger in fact i was in a band and i got a grant for school for it but i guess all the yelling at the kids and smoking has put a new sound in there lol. anyways what are some of your favorite things to do.

hi friend, i get depressed in life very rarely.But whenever i do i become very upset. I like to listen to music when i m depressed.Reading books also helps. I also like to sing loudly.A walk by the sea side also relaxes me. I also sometimes do cycling or swimming.I even surf the net to overcome my depression.

wow.. you're fortunate not to be depressed often, i hope im also like you. coz in my recent situation, i do feel depressed, luckily for me, my sisters had been giving me encouragements but the only thing, is that they live far from where i reside. but still, i do think of my kids, so as to keep me inspired to go on...

I'll have a good sleep, then go to gym or go shopping! sometimes i write down those effective ways that can pick me up:)

I like eating delicious food like chips, which are not good to my health though. But I will tell you something that will really help. U just have a banana a day, then everything will be Ok.

There are times when I feel depressed. I like to cry it out. I will have swollen eyes the next day, I don't care. I like to take long walks and think it over. I write too. I sometimes write to clear my head and think straight. Otherwise I write to earn extra money on the net. I think writing also helps me keep sane, and not think about the problems I have.

You like to write to make you feel better, that's a healthy way! Because i just like to eat a lot or play PSP all day in my bedroom, which is not good for my body. I never see anyone when i get depressed, so i dont like to talk to people when i feel bad and it's not a positive way to let me get out of the dark. Sometimes i try to listen to music or do some exercise but it doesn't work. Writing may be a new way to pick myself up. Nowadays, we can build up our blogs to write down those unhappy days in our lives, but blogs may be seen by other people, that's what i dont like. As you said, I sit down with papaer and pen really could make me back to before, those happy days which have no computers and no so many disturbing things.

i eat, play badminton and go do window shopping...i also love to just sit down and think or sleep off my depression, probably when i wake up i'd feel much better.

When I feel bad, depressed or just feeling low, I shop and I dine out. You will find me in the supermarket when I feel depressed, even if my cart is empty at all. LOL! kidding aside, I have the urge to shop when I feel depressed or mad, or bad.. there was one instance that my husband and I has a misunderstanding with each other, even if its night time, I went to the grocery just to make me calm myself and feel better,, I bought a lot from cans of milk and diapers,foods and junk foods even if I still have those at home. I just want to feel okay,feel better.. :)

When I'm depressed, I lack of appetite so I go shopping. When I'm upset, I feel like the world is on my shoulder so don't move a lot so i go eat wherever and whatever I want. Whenever I'm sad, just simply sad, I call whoever in family i9s available.

Hi,easymoney, I like to swim ,shop,chess,play tennis,etc if I feel upset,I think it is better that walk out the room to do some outdoors exercise if someone fell depressed!! Thanks for your discussion!! Sunny

When im depressed or sad or feeling down. I just go and talk to my friends, make some chat mode, or sometimes a paper and pen will do and put all the reason why i feel sad. Music helps alot. and prayers too.

hi easymoney! I usually fell down when I'm frustrated over something or somebody started it. there were even days when i just feel sad and do not really know the reason behind it. This is when i write to help understand myself. I post questions like if you have this kind of money, will you be happy then? LOL and i end up with the conclusion that Oh money is the problem. I also discuss with a friend about how i feel. And got addicted to it for quite sometime. I got more depressed when my friend is not available because of traveling. Perhaps, we deal with this in different manners. Nowadays, I came to a point where I learned to shrug the thought that makes me depress. I learned to quiet down a thought and say go away for now, this isn't the time for you to come bugging me. And most of the time it listens. I've read that, "You cannot stop the bird from flying over your head but you can stop it from building a nest on your head." I've also read an ebook that I downloaded entitled, "Attachment from Detachment". It is about detaching yourself from thoughts that brings you down. And more. I once learned this over reading "Happiness in a Nutshell" deatchment and sorrow as a thought. It is a thought therefore you can change a thought.

yes that's true, we all get depressed. but for me, being depressed is somewhat a challenge. I challenge myself to stand up again, and think not of the problems that made me depressed. What do I do? uhmmm.. I listen to music. You know I always believed music is food for the soul. I like rock music, when I listen to it, I seem to forget my problems. But when the tough gets going tougher, well, I just pray to Him. It will definitely make you feel good.

I am not impervious to being depressed. It happens sometimes and it is a feeling that I definitely do not like. When it happens, I try to find out the reason for the feeling and when I find the reason, I usually stop being depressed. Cheers!!

Hello! Whenever I really feel down I use to drink one or two cups of tea to cheer me up.Tea really helps cheering up the mind and body.Then go for a walk to the park and come close to nature and meditate for some time in the park.Thus I regain my stamina to go for any work.thanx.

I will say that I get sad and depressed sometimes and it is hard when you are always feeling down. The one thing I always do is play with my children because when I tickle them or even just get on the floor with them and talk to them it always lifts me up and puts such a big smile on my face. I guesse it is hearing their giggles and hearing my youngest cooing and my 2 year old talking in his own language(Baby Talk) it just gives me a good start to a happy feeling to finish my day off.

When i feel down what i usually do is go out with friends. If i have the money i splurge on expensive stuff without thinking how much it is. I just wanna make myself happy and forget about sadness. If i get home and started to feel sad again i started to listen to upbeat music and talk to my mom. I always keep myself busy when im depressed. I dont like to stay in my room weeping coz it makes me more sad.

when i am feeling down i get a nice hot bubble bath .After my bath i get dressed and put a little make up on.I light a couple of candles and play some music while coming on the computor.I find you can always get someone to make you laugh on the computor no matter how down you are. Happy mylotting

When I feel down I listen to music. It always seems to make me feel happier. I enjoy singing along and having al little dance lol. Also I love clothes shopping so when I can afford to I go on a spree and always feel better after.
