Do you do grocery shopping on paydays?

A lot of people do the grocery shopping right after they receive their pay. Supermarkets are filled with too many shoppers every payday. I have done that, too, before. I hated falling in line in counters, so I decided not to do it during the payday. I scheduled my grocery shopping a week after receiving the pay and it was much better because I don't need to fall in line and there are fewer people who shop. When do you grocery shop?

no, i don't . and in my country most of the company pay their employees once a month, no fixed paydays, so ... i just don't want to do grocery shopping weekends, because of the line problem.

I shop for groceries on a weekly basis. And I try not to shop on a weekend just after payday. Although I go to the malls where there are more than enough cashiers to go through, it can be a bit annoying falling in line. Lol. cheers!

hello djoyce71, I do grocery shop three or four days before payday to avoid falling in line in the counters. I even lessen my going to groceries from twice a month -that is every payday, to once a month. This way, I can save my taxi fare or gasoline. I just make sure to have all the lists that I need to avoid going back to the grocery before doing it. Since then I feel more relax.

I do regular shopping every Saturday but not during paydays! I avoid doing it during paydays because of the long queues. I am not patient with long queues, it's a waste of time! Imagine the time wasted just to pay for those items you bought?

If we are free on that day,we will.My husband and I are always together. I am glad that our paydays doesnt fall on the 15th and 30th of the month. It is hard to be in the supermarket on paydays...too many shoppers. The last time we went to the supermarket...my husband gets his own stuff..I get what I need...the 2 kids get their own too...we stuff them in 1 or 2 carts, then it is my 16 year old son who puts the stuff on the cashier's lane...I go to the nearest food stall and sit and wait. My daughter goes around in the toiletries,my husband goes around in the bread section and goes to the cashier to pay. When we go home, the maid brings out all the stuff...then I will find out,we bought 2 of this,3 of that, none of this and much more of that...LOL Weare always like this...the last time,I got 1 bag of sugar...my husband go 1 bag too,our son thought,we really needed that much...my goodness!

I will give you a great idea about this, I too used to go during the payday and I too find crowded with many peoples as well. laterly i have been told by my friend who works in a supermarket to come in mid of month, when asked why he said in off time we give you more discounts and offer to boost the sales. try this and check out is it cost effective

I am one of those people who shop on payday. That is because by that point I need to shop and don't want to wait. But luckily I live in a small community that even going on a payday you will not likely wait too long at the lines. I hate waiting and I hate crowds. I grew up in Toronto Canada which is mega busy any day. That I couldn't stand because it could mean hours in a line up. Here 10 minutes on the busiest days, which isn't too bad.

Hi Djoyce, I do grocery shopping weekly, so if any of these days should fall on the first or last 2 days of a month, I would either shop earlier or later. Like you, I hate to rush with others who do their shopping after having received their paychecks. The malls & hypermarkets are usually crowded during this time, not only with people shopping for food and groceries, but also for other things like clothes and so forth!

To be quite honest, I shop when I need to. I try to do two weeks at a time and then I might have to stop in for something but not really shop. I hate grocery shopping... I call it "Doing The Dreaded"

Oh we do! and we do shop in a grocery where less people shop and it is cheaper there too, not much people, but not much goods too (like imported canned good and the likes, the supermarket is a wholesale store and most of the goods there are for sari sari store) oh but we do enjoy shopping there because the cart is bigger and the aisle is bigger too and not much of a line on the cashier. Last payday though we do our shopping at the other grocery store here where most people in the area do their shopping. I hate it! There are so many people and the aisle was small and I just can't breathe and the kids are playful and there are so many shoppers and the line is long. won't shop at that store again!

I dont go on shopping on payday because it is expected that there are lots of shoppers. So I go two days after payday so that there are minimal shoppers and I can go around without bumping to other's cart. And I can choose from different designs or flavors when picking and I can stay longer reading the contents of the product I'm going to buy.

When we need something from the grocery store, we wait until wednesday or sunday, both of which are church days, because our church is closer to walmart than our house, so we save gas instead of making an extra trip we just wait till we go to church, which works for us, even though it is usually very busy on sundays :P all is good though :D

Sometimes we do. It just depends on how our weekends look. If its really busy we try and grocery shop on Friday but if not we will go on Saturday. Most of the time Sunday is our day off so we try not to go. Besides the shelves are really empty when we do go on Sunday and I have to end up getting the brands that I don't care for.

I do the majority of my shopping on sundays after church when I have my boys with me to help out. I get paid on fridays but I have a direct deposit so I don't have to wait to recieve my pay so I don't really have to worry about when I choose to do my shopping.

may be there are people who shop their grocery on pay days. we always shop on the beginning of the month and there is no particular dates, sometimes might be faster and sometimes late. but usually bring it all for the month except the vegetables. and after me getting married also we use to do the same but here in germany i dont follow like that and we cant even do like this here as the life changes here once you drop here and i do my shopping every week and there are a few items like rice and flour and lentils which i bring ot for the whole month. and a few items i have to take it from indian stores and a few i just bring from india ´whenever i visit. you know it is not fixed here how i bring things, it is like we get it anything whenever we find it or whenever we require it but it will not work here buying things for whole month and so on.

Hi djoyce71... I regularly do my grocery on a weekday between the 20th-27th of each month. I found that doing so these dates brings the fun back to grocery shopping. I find everything I need as the racks are all filled, the day's produce are well stocked and there are no queues at the cashiers. The stress of going through a grocery list only to find out the racks for an item have not been replenished because of the crowd of grocery shoppers with you, can really mark your day. So nowadays, I have fun doing my grocery...even have some time enough for a cup of good coffee at the grocery's coffee shop before heading home. Happy mylotting...

When I was raising my children I would go every payday. And you are right during that time every one in this small community got paid about the same time and the grocery stores were packed with people grocery shopping you could tell it was pay day in the valley. Now that I am alone and the children are grown. I shop whenever I am in need. Which isn't often. Sometime it is once a month. Sometime every two weeks. My time is mines now to do whatever I please. Happy MyLotting.

I don't groceryshop on paydays, fridays of saterdays, the shops are too busy, you struggle to find parking and it is a fustratind experience. I try and shop in the week when it is quieter and it is a much more relaxing experience. The down side of this, is that most shops have lots of specials over pay weekend and on weekends.
