I started babysitting when I was around 12 years old. I can't say I was a perfect babysitter, but I would never have done something as stupid as that. I bet those parents are going to be doing background checks on their babysitters in the future.

I was a babysitter when I was a kid, too. I'm not really sure how that happened, but I watched my cousin and a few kids who were just friends of the family. I think the case you mentioned will make me even more reserved about babysitters than I already am. :)

Yikes! I have been babysitting since I was like 10 I was always told I was mature for my age. But stuff like this does gives parents pause in thinking if kids are just to young to be doing this sort of thing. 18 is an adult in most states but still relatively young in most cases. I just hope they learn their lesson and that others don't follow their example and to think that most parent only had to fear of the babysitter was going to invite friends or her boyfriend to their houses.

I am currently baby sitting an 8 month child and this story is just totally awful. Ho w can she do that? I am not really baby sitting to earn but I am baby sitting my niece since the parents are both working and I am the only one available. I have few experience about baby sitting since I was the one who baby sit my brother and until now, I am still the one looking after him.

I was probably 9 or 10, if you don't count watching my brothers and sisters. That was a long time ago, though, and I was very responsible for my age. I lived in a small town, where you know your neighbors and trust them. I did some babysitting off and on for years. When I got married and moved here, I worked as a nanny. The first woman who interviewed me thought I was a bit young at 18 or 19, even though I had helped to raise my brothers and sisters. The second one gave me the chance to take care of her two small children. I took them places with me, but never put them in this kind of situation. I cannot imagine, not even in my darkest, wildest dreams, putting children in a situation described above. It makes me wonder what kids these days are thinking when they do something that dangerous and stupid.
