How old were you when you started wearing braces?

I just got my braces about 6 months ago, I'm 26 now and it's a bummer, my dentist told me I need them because my bite has changed, it's all wrong now. =(

I have never had braces, but my teeth are a little crooked in some spots so I defienitely do need them. The only problem is, I'm almost 18 and I would be really embarrassed if I got braces at this age. Plus, I'm scared because I have heard so many bad stories about them from so many people that I would just assume go on living with my slightly-crooked teeth. It really doesn't bother me that much. I wish there was an easier way to straighten them though.

12 years old and i had them for 3 and a half years
