Have any of you had the experience of vacationing with your inlaws? Do you get along well enough to make this work? Did it go well? Any funny stories? Any disaster stories?

Hi ya rocketj1 The inlaws I still have are in another country thank goodness or else I am sure they would have hung me from the nearest tree by now! When things were ok, I got on really well with the inlaws as I think I was a novelty being a foreigner and they loved me. I also gave my husband three boys, that always goes down well!! We never went away with them though, they would have never have gone I don't think, thank goodness!

I didn't think that you'd do that! Hey, have you noticed I moved up a star rating since yesterday. I wanted to type the sound of a heavenly choir like AAHHHHH-AAHHHHH! We should have sound effects here. Wouldn't that be awesome!

We took a trip to San Felipe, Mexico about 25 years ago, don't remember much about it. There is a close friend of my husband's family who was having her 75th birthday and she wanted to go to Hawaii. So we went with my in-laws and her, her nephew and his girlfriend and the girlfriend's parents. Oh yeah, and my Dad! Once we took my in-laws into the water, snorkeling, they were hooked. Sometimes we did things together, sometimes we did our own thing. It wasn't a bad trip. But I have more fun when I can do on my agenda and not have to plan around everybody else.

yes, I've had a lot of vacationing with all of my in-laws and I did enjoy every bit of my time with them. I think if we have an open mind and don't start thinking with a bizarre mind everytime they say or do something, its going to go on well for anybody.

now don't get me wrong. I think my in-laws are great. As long as I am not on vacation with them. We travelled from Indiana to Tenn one year and it was terribel. I for one do NOT like not driving. I have to have the wheel. unfortunately my father in law is the same way. So when he got tired (45 minute away from our destination) instead of letting me take over the wheel, he stops at a rest stop and decideds that we are going to stay there for a while until he has had a nap. Still that would have been ok, except for the fact that we had our 1 year old son in the car and he was NOT going to take a nap. NEVER AGAIN!!!! :)

I was able to travel with them almost a year before we got married. We celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary and they decided to have it at Boracay. and since I was the one who arranged the whole thing with one of my future sis-in-law, they tagged me along for free. It was a bit awkward but most of the time we did not hang out with them so I survived. LOL!

No, I havent had this experience yet. And I hope that I never do. Me and my father-in-law do not get along at all. I think that the correct description is that we loathe one another.

My Mother In Law passed away about 7 years ago, and my husband's father was never really in the picture. I did get along with my mother in law very well, but we never traveled together. We have traveled with my parents though a few times, so my husband has travelled with his in laws. We have gone on vacation with my sister in law and her husband and kids, and I have gone on a girls only weekend with both of my sister in laws before. My husband and I also went on vacation with my brother in law and his girlfriend before we go married. So technically yes, I have traveled with my in laws, just not the parental ones.
