I have been reading a book by Danielle Steel called Sister's and I am finding myself having to put the book down every few pages and having to compose myself and wipe away tears! The storyline is just so touching about a family who lost their mother in a car accident and their sister who was in the accident also is now permanently blind So I know that I am a big soft sookie! What about you? does reading a sad book or watching a sad dvd make you cry too? Hope I not the only one

OMG Danielle Steel's Titanic is so sad it cried through the whole book. It starts out as a family boards the titanic and has high hopes of immigrating to America. That is where all goes wrong. Mom and Dad die on the ship because mom would not leave the love of her life. The children all get off the ship safely and come to America. They live with an relative until one of the girls can support them all. Then they lose one of the brothers in the war. I kept saying while reading the book "Oh no this cannot be happening, do not let him die." The book is very long but very good if you have not read it before I would recommend it.

Last book I read that made me cry was the last in the series of Harry Potter Books. I cried like a baby, why did everyone have to die????? But I hate to cry I try to avoid any books or movies that make me cry. My husband gets a kick out of how easily I cry. He actually pushes for me to watch movies that he knows will make me cry because he thinks it's so cute that I act so tough all the time but a movie can make me cry. The movies A.I. and The Notebook were the very worse. I refuse to ever watch Pearl Harbor or any war movies again. lol

I have never cried reading a book. I have one time gotten depressed reading a book where I like a certain character, just to find that they tragically end up dying. So I try to remind myself that it is not real.

I am not much of a reader at all. I have never read a book that made me cry. I do not have the time to read. I am sure if I read a sad book, I would more than likely cry sometimes though.

Yes, books can make me cry, and this Danielle Steele book did make me cry, as well. It is amazing the way that she can touch you so easily. I can watch movies and cry and not just the first time!! You certainly are NOT the only one. Want to see a real tear jerker.........watch Pay It Forward.

Yes!! I have never read the book. It is the movie that I have watched several times and EVERY time it makes me try. The first time was with a class of 7th-8th graders (I held back the tears that time and had 2 students tell me that they did also!!). I have seen it many times since and loved it every time.

I'm always crying when I read emotional books, so I totally understand. I will also cry watching a movie or tv, but not nearly as much as I do when reading. It is amazing how moving some stories can be.

Some authors just know instinctively how to really get you involved with the characters.

Hi, I usually read only crime, detective and horror books; romance and sentimental stories don't appeal to me. Yet there was one book that really tore my emotions apart - Tuesdays with Morrie -the only book that made me cried. It was a very touching, sad story of a dying man, who wanted to live out his last days bringing meaning and happiness to others. No matter how good this book is, I don't ever want to read books like this again - I just don't like crying!

Yes I am a big fan of the crime & detective books too, I love reading authors like Patricia Cornwell, Nikki French and the like! There is another author that I am also reading at the moment that does the detective crime from A-Z and do you think that I can think of her name at the moment but the book is sitting on my bedside table at home and I also have 16 of her others books and I just can't recall her name for the life! Will have to have a look when I get home! Love horror to Dean Kootz, Richard Layman, Stephen King, etc etc

the story is about a family that finds out that the mom has cancer and the career daughter comes home to care for her, and find truths about each of her parent that she could not see when she was younger, the most important one was how strong her mother really is, there are parts of the movie that really make you cry (I cried a lot with it)

There is seldom any book that will makes me cry. I can cry easily for a movie but not a book. Maybe I am just less emotional when reading than watching.

Yeah maybe coz when you are watching a movie you can see when the character is going through pain but you can't see it in books.

You are definitely not the only one. I cry just thinking about books I have read and movies I've watched sometimes! I am such a softie. And whenever anyone tells me about a tough experience they went through I usually cry more than they do. lol. What can I say? I have active tear ducts.

I am definitely a softie. Makes my husband laugh when I cry at a movie or a book. However, I just can't help it. There have been many times when tear drops have stained good books and I have had to go for the Kleenex box!

The book that made really made me cry was Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. I didn't know how much but I did and it was a lot. It was a book that I bought myself because I heard from a friend that it is really nice not knowing how nice it really is. It also teaches a lesson about life and dying and how to give importance in every minute of our lives. I really love that book. I wish to read it again but maybe, sometime in the future. Cheers!

The kite runner made me cry. I don't like to admit it, but it was just an extremely sad story at times and what's worse was that it was based off of a real scenario. Books like these always make me think about how fortunate I am and how terrible it for people living in circumstances like those described in the kite runner. It really sickens me that genocide is still going on, and it sickens me more that there is little i can do about it short of going to those places and trying to stop it.
