Wish me luck today!

I'm on my way out to put around resumes today as soon as I drop my son off at school! I put a couple out in August to no avail but I seriously have to get out of my workplace ASAP! I ask that all of you who pray to pray for me and that I have Favor with someone soon to get hired! Now to make this a discussion.... How long did it take you to find your current job? What was your longest time searching for work? Were you working while you were searching? What happened to make you want to look for the new position? How many different places have you worked in your life time thus far? Hope you all have a wonderful day and I'll be back on here later to let you know my progress! ~Heavens~

Luckily I am retired and not looking for a steady job right now. Anyway, that does not help you. Have you noticed lately a lot of companies post their job openings on their website. So check out the companies in the industry where you want to work and apply online for any job that you are qualified for. Also there is Monster and Workopolis. Workopolis alone has 75 000 jobs listed. To give you just a small example. I decided it would be interesting wo work in the most recent Canadian Elections. I went to Elections Canada website and applied to work that day as a Deputy Returning Officer. Sure enough I got a call, an interview, a training session and a day's work. It was stressful but fun. Many good wishes to you and best of luck.

Congratulations on working during the election! I am somewhat restrained as I do not drive and I have a special needs son and so am only looking for part time! I went to the Mall today and put out ten resumes mainly in woman's clothing stores. I'm going back out on Monday to hit some stores I missed today and hand in a couple application forms that I was given today to fill out! Thanks so much for your help! ~Heavens~

Although it is already too late for me to pray, nevertheless I will still do it. Maybe now you already got the job and are working in the new workplace. If that is the case, congratulations. If not, keep sending resumes and don't give up. Actually now I am working on my own. But previously when I was searching for job, it didn't take me long to get for a job interview. Many times I got a job after going for the first or second interview. But I didn't stay long for the jobs for certain reasons that I couldn't avoid. I think I am more suitable to work on my own because I couldn't get pressured too much when working with a lot of people. My longest time searching for work is about 6 months, but that was because I didn't search seriously. I quit my old job because my boss was too demanding and I couldn't cope with her. She always find fault in me and I think she never appreciated me as a human. I have worked in many places. I've worked as a Human Resource Executive, a personal assistant, an executive secretary, a secret project assistant and many more in which I think it is not that important to you.

Hi heavens, I sincerely hope and pray that you've met with some success today, in your job search. I 'know' how much you need to get away from your current place of employment. It seems that these days, finding new (or any) employment is very difficult, but it can be done. As for me, my current 'job' just fell into my lap, a number of years ago. I believe my longest time searching was about a year. This was many years ago, when the economy was bad (once again), and I had been laid off. I've actually worked quite a number of places (too many to list here). I think they total around a dozen, 'not' including my mother's helper job when I was quite young. I've also left out my current babysitting position. I did a lot of temp office work, which I really enjoyed. I had quite a few long term assignments. I really liked these temp jobs, because I didn't have to get involved in all of the office politics nonsense, that goes on. My two favourite temp jobs were, The Ontario Medical Association, and Baycrest Jewish geriatric center. I tried for full time positions at both places, but it never did work out. The full time job I loved the most, was for a property management company (Dennis Management). I'm anxious to hear how things have gone today. Love and Hugs to you.

How about we pray for each other for I too am trying to get a job..I have been looking for over a year now, but really have been more aggressive in the last few months..Usually jobs fall into my lap, but now that I seriouly need one, (husband can't work from hurting his back), I can't seem to get anything..I thought since I still have a school age child, I would try to get into the school system..So I took a para-pro test and past it, but even though the local school needed a para-pro in the last few months, they have not contacted me for an interview at all..So I recently started spreading out to other schools in the area, including one in the next county.. Next thing I am going to do is K-Mart, at least it is a job, and that it will hold me over until a school decides to hire me..

I do wish you all the best Carmela! I know once you get into a placement you will enjoy the children you work with as I loved that Job when I was in it! Only now it is not feasible for me to do that line of work with my son's schedule and the fact that I do not drive! I am in desperate need of getting away from the grocery store where I work and so I put out ten Resumes today at the mall. Mostly in woman's clothing stores! I am hopeful that something will come of this...I am going back on Monday to put out a few more in stores I missed and to hand in a couple of applications that I was given today! I have been looking on and off for about two years now and never get anything...I have had one interview in that time that did not work out for me...I am hoping that something changes in this area soon! HUGS ~Heavens~

well good luck to you!!, current job, not working, im off on disability right now and im not allowed to return to work yet. The longest i ever spent searching for a job i think was about a month, if it was longer than that then not by much, pretty much everytime i have been searching i was searching while i was working, i didn't want to leave without knowing that i was going to be able to start work somewhere else. The type of work really wasn't interesting to me, but it was work, management changed and i didn't agree with how the new management worked, and there have been a few times for better pay. about 4 or 5 places so far

I am the same in that I do not want to leave without another income...I can't as the money is necessary for my family to eat! My current place of work is very unappreciative and head office is imposing changes within the next month that I think are not going to be good or beneficial...I am so unhappy and have been for a long time! I do hope that my time for a chnge is around the corner! ~Heavens~

i know how you are feeling, and definately, if you are not happy, there is no point in staying there, part of being able to get up and go to work everyday is being able to enjoy where you work, the people you work with and work for, and what you are doing, without that it just gets harder and harder to go into work everyday and you end up being even more unhappy. I am sure you will find what you are looking for, unfortunately sometimes it just takes a little time, but better that it takes a little time and you find what you want then getting a job quick and just having to look again because you don't like it

Well i do pray that God blesses you with a wonderful that will fill all your needs, wants and desires. Well one time it took me almost a year and believe me as a single parent who was out there every single day pounding the pavement looking for a job getting dressed up everyday as if i was going to work and out there from about 8 am to 4 or 5pm. right now i am not currently working i am disabled in a wheelchair with a back injury and 4 mths pregnant just going to school online for me now. i was not working while i was looking for another job but one thing my mother did tell me is that you usually have better luck finding a job when you are already working so be encouraged. honestly i needed to just find a job because i needed to take care of my son as a single parent under my parents room and soon because i couldnt stay there forever. i am a military veteran, worked and two restuarants, a catalog ordering company, an RV park and camping place, etc.

Best of luck to you, heavenschild. I'll pray and send best wishes for you. I just can't stand the thought of you working somewhere that makes you unhappy. How long did it take you to find your current job? Haha... I'm a stay at mom, so 9 months, I guess. What was your longest time searching for work? I have always found work pretty quickly when I set my mind to it. Were you working while you were searching? I have done both. I've heard that it is easier to find work when you have a job. I'm not so sure I agree with that one. What happened to make you want to look for the new position? Once was a complete career change. Another time was switching to the wiser side of my industry. (career move ) How many different places have you worked in your life time thus far? Four different places.

I do hope that things turn around for me soon and I am able to find a part-time job that I will enjoy! Love and Hugs ~Heavens~

I have been fortunate for the past 8 years not having to be without a job. I have found that it is always easier to get a job if you have a job. Employers want to hire someone who is in good standing where they are and looking to improve some aspect of their lives. In the mean time, I have been working in a venture that does rather well. A friend of mine now does it full time. So there are other options as well. I will be praying that god will open the doors that need to be open and close those that need to be closed. Good to hear from you.

hi heavenschild I wish you all the luck in the world and pray that you find the job you want soon, and also I am praying that mine own son will also find a job soon. I lucked outin the last job I had as I walked into the library shortly after I moved to Tustin and saw this sign pages wanted. So I applied, went through a test and a lot of paperwork, and was hired as a childrens page, I worked in the library for 23 years. I have only had three jobs in my lifetime, all lasting at least fifteen years or more. two as nurse's aid and one as a library page.

Wow! That's great Hatley! You have been really fortunate then! I had four jobs throughout high school and then one in college and then I went into my career for a couple of years until I had my son and now I have been in my current position at a grocery store for over three and a half years. I hate my current job as the employees are not treated very well! I long to find something different! ~Heavens~

I wish you luck. I will be joining you at the end of the year. The company I work for is closing. So I will be out here looking for a job. I will draw unemployment compensation for a while. The job I have now I got it thru a temporary service. I have no idea what direction I will go in finding a job now. I am not old enough to retire yet.

Hi Chevee! I was working in the school system until my son was born and then my job was downsized while I was on Maternity leave and so I was forced to look when my son was nineteen months!I landed the job I have now in a grocery store but after three and half years of very unappreciated very unfulfilling work I am so unhappy and desperately need a change! I have actually been looking off and on for two years now but it is coming to a point now where it really needs to happen and so I am really going to be working at this now! I wish I could earn a living from home but I feel that is not in the cards for me right now...It would be ideal as I have a special needs son but right now I need the money and so I'l work out but I hope to find a different job...I need a change! Best of luck to you as well in the new year! ~Heavens~

Hello heavenschild. On finding my current job (3rd one- 1st was an IT position. 2nd and current is in a BPO company), it took me a month and a half to look for work after I was laid off when I failed the final training class of my previous job. I was very depressed at first but I realized that I have to move on. Remember, when you're down, you have nowhere to go but up! Good luck and God bless!
