after 18 years of planting children on his knee, Michael Graham said yesterday that the Fairfax County mall is not inviting him back this year. Graham said he's not sure why, particularly because he had a contract until 2012. A spokeswoman for the company that manages the mall said Graham has done nothing wrong. It's just that the company wanted a different Santa signed on by the new photo operator who will run the event. That leaves Graham, 51, without work this holiday, who is counting on the $30,000. He just bought a house..Now at risk for foreclosure.

If he has a contract then he should still be working at that mall as a Santa. If I were him I would be looking into that one. On another note, $30,000 seems like a lot of money for playing Santa for the season.

That is what I thought. But still give the guy a reason.

Unfortunately, contracts may be broken. There are certain consequences when some contracts are broken. However, it seems like the Mall here can afford to break the contract and hire a new Santa. That means, unfortunately, that the contract didn't have enough of a penalty to protect the Old Santa.

That is so not fair! He should sue for breech of contract. Can you believe that Santa is already making appearances her in my State of KY. I don't know why they do that before Thanksgiving for.

I hope that this guy gets a new job. The credit crunch is hard for everybody let alone if you are unemployed. © ronaldinu 2008
