i can think of at least four instances of hearing someone sing the wrong lyrics: song: can't cry hard enough a cousin sang: "fairy ghost up in the sky..." (there it goes, up in the sky) song: ocean deep my dad: "ooohh, shandy..." (ocean deep) song: don't give up on us my brother: "it's written in the moonlight, painted on the stars, we're catching jars" (...we can't change ours) song: betcha by golly wow a friend: "there's a spark of madness in your eyes" (there's a spark of magic in your eyes) hehe. how about you, do you have misheard lyrics to share? =)

this post is very eye catching.. my kids used to sing with the wrong lyrics, it's because they are still kids and what they utter are word/words that they only heard. and really insists that it the right lyrics. i explained to them that they heard it wrong and it's just some "sounds like" word. now they understand my point and never gets mad whenever i correct them.

i know a kid who sings 'bah, bah, black sheep any any wool" as well. i tried to correct her but it turns out it was her teacher who taught them the "slaughtered" version of the song. kawawa, imagine that teacher has more than 40 students and all of them sings "bah, bah, black sheep any any wool".

Haha some of my friends always say the wrong lyrics. Sometimes when someone honestly thinks that they are singing the right lyrics it is amazingly funny. I think one of my friends was singing "You can whatever a fight" instead of "You can have whatever you like". It's also really funny cause one of my friends knows absolutely no lyrics to any songs, but insists on singing them anyways.

hehe! too bad the "ken lee" woman beat your friend to becoming famous on the internet for singing the wrong lyrics...i just remembered another one: "i don't care much for where to go" instead of "i don't care much for words of doom" :p

In 1996 I recorded a song in the studio that I didn't have any set lyrics. after laying the main vocal I asked the sound engineer to play it back to me so I could write the word down for a back-up vocal track. To sound even more silly I used to listen to that song on my cd player before the gigs and sing along with myself to try and learn the lyrics.

my brother used to sing: "everybody's doing orangutan (a brand new dance) now...do the locomotion" and a friend sang the chorus of enya's orinoco flow: "celebrate, celebrate" (sail away, sail away) =)
