Is it bad to be possessive?

I find that some people are very possessive and at times it becomes an obsession. Not only possessive about their wife or husband, but possessive about all that they possess. They will not let you touch thier car or mobike or will not permit youto use their laptop. Why do they behave in this manner? Are they scared of some thing? have they had a bad experience in life? or have they been deprived in their childhood?

i think a lot of people like that may have grown up with out things or bullied when they were younger.. at least i hope there is a reason when people go over board to where it can be understandable

To be protective of your self, your belongings etc isnt a bad thing at all...especially in todays world IMO BUT when it becomes an obsession like what you mentioned then I think it's an issue BUT there is a reason behind it more often than not....I know that i use to be very protective of my belongings (my stuff as I call it) because it was all i had and if i kept it near and didnt let anyone touch it they couldnt take it/steal it from me which goes back to the trauma in my past...It was purely psychological with me..it wasnt that I didnt want to share etc it was that I COULDNT share or trust ppl for that matter.
