I am planning to do some gifts for those that are really closed to me, say my love ones, and i will try to personalized it as possible as i can. Since I am fond of doing art crafts and the likes, I am thinking of doing some things for my love ones and give it as a gift this coming Christmas. Not only did I save money from it but I can give something that is really unique and specially made just for them... My worry now is that I should have finish it before December 24 though (lol)...I guess next year I'll start come January so I have so much time to do it..(lol)

I think handmade items will be the "in" thing this holiday season. At the craft shows I've done so far this fall, I've heard many buyers saying they were looking to buy a lot of handmade items as gifts, rather than spend alot of money in the stores. Handmade items are generally better made than mass-produced items and if you spend the time to personalize an item for someone, it often means a lot to that person when they receive the gift from you. You actually took the time to not only think about what you wanted to get for them, but you also took the time and created it with your own hands. And that means much more to the person than you just picking up something off the shelf. My sons and I make personalized Christmas decorations for family members. My boys give their Aunts and Uncles the decorations (that have pictures of their children on them) and their grandparents get one decoration for each grandchild (all 8 of them) I'll be making my mom-in-law a personalized sea glass bracelet or necklace and probably a scarf for one or two of my sister-in-laws (they always want to buy a scarf from me) It is fun to sit with my sons and have them help me make the decorations, but it does get a bit stressful, hoping I can finish all of the items every year!

I think hand made gifts are the best just because you can personalize them. Who wants to give a run-of-the-mill, generic, everybody-has-one, gift when they can give something specific to their loved ones? I try to make everyone at least on thing each Christmas. Like you, I worry that I won't get finished in time!

I would love to give personalized items as gifts this christmas... but i just do not have the time to do so... since i work... take care of my daughter... and do everything in the house... so my only option is to just buy... Yesterday... i saw these cute black bags that cost only 100 pesos each... so i bought like five of them as gifts for my young niece... and i am planning to buy caps for my nephews...

hi aseretdd, it's okay to buy things that are factory made. Not everyone can do hand made crafts. there are things still that i will buy for some other god sons and god daugthers for i can not make car toys, dolls and robots for them (lol)...thanks for sharing your view here...

I am trying very hard to save this year instead of spending a ton on pointless presents, so my friends will be receiving some hand-made jewellery and cards, and I will not be spending half as much! My boyfriend will be getting a watch from me, which will take up a big chunk of my spending money, hehe (; But this year I think will be another thrifty year for me, because I'm saving for the future (possible plans with boyfriend) Also, I find it lovely to receive hand-made gifts. I love to receive painted pictures from people, and I am a big fan of crafted stuff - although on sites such as Etsy I find it can be pricey because it costs more to make than in a factory ): I'm sure your friends will be very lucky to receive a gift from you !

Most of my gifts this year will be handmade. I am a little behind making my gifts, but they would be finish before Thanksgiving. Handmade items are unique and I think family and friends really appreciate the time and effort you put into making them.
