I have a friend who will be putting her decorations and Christmas Tree up around the middle of November. I like to be as traditional as possible without being the odd one out so I will start to put the decorations and tree up in the 2nd weekend before Christmas so that will be 13th/14th December this year for me. I let my sons decorate the tree how they please whilst I crack on with the ceiling decorations. They love to do the tree especially sticking the chocolates on as it always becomes, one for the tree and one for me! I see no point in putting them earlier though my friend thinks that the sooner they go up the longer it is before they have to come down again!! How about you? When do you put your Christmas decorations and tree up?

hi..I usually put up the tree and decorate the whole house after "All Saint's/ All Soul's Day" here in my country..That would be on November 1 and 2... Some people here even start as early as September because old folks say that Christmas season starts around that time...

We usually put it up sometime after Thanksgiving but this year I am going to wait till after the first week of December so the bulbs and decorations don't get to dusty this year. We have to buy new lights this year since hubby thought to leave them up last year and now they are faded and bleary instead of bright and colorful.

I was only thinking of this the other day. I really want to make curtains for the living room so I need to get my finger out and organise myself. I was in the middle of spring cleaning and was called away for a couple of days and I've lost my momentum and also my motivation. I got the decorations down today so I'm a step closer. I need to be much better organised though. I will be having 7 guests staying over this year (I think...still to be confirmed). I've decided the children can do the tree and I will put the rest up so the house looks cheery when they arrive. I will prolly do it a week or so before hand...I've found if I leave it too late, they are not there long enough.

We will be putting ours up the day after Thanksgiving. I wish I could put it up sooner, but that would probably be pushing it. Last year, I waited until the last minute, and threw everything together. This year, I plan to be a little more ready as best as I can. I'm expecting, so things are a little harder for me, but this Christmas will be so special because it will be my first as a married woman and a new mom! I'm so excited.

My son was due on the 26th December but hung around for the new year. He was finally born on th 6th January 10 days overdue! Missed being a millenium baby by 6 days! Thanks for your response and take it easy!

Our family doesn't put up a Xmas tree due to lack of space here at home. But I remember one time that we put a nine foot Xmas tree at home. It was the early days of November that we've put that one. Everybody was so ecstatic and excited in putting up the Xmas tree.

Hi Humbug. We always put our Christmas tree up either the Fri after or the Sat after Thanksgiving. Then I take it down the day after New Years. I usually end up doing the tree by myself. I may be able to get my husband to at least help me with the lights tho lol.Happy lotting.

My family tradition is we wait until the day after Thanksgiving to put up our Christmas decorations. I never could really understand why people would literally skipped over Thanksgiving and start putting up decorations before Thanksgiving. Well, I guess each to their own.

I usually put up my christmas decoration after 05 dec according to italy rule! For 2 years i didnt do any christmas decorations because my sons are small and they are in the crawling period which I scare they pull down the tree on them. This year, they are bigger, so I might let them help me to decorate.

Hi there AmberX5 It is a good idea to get them involved then they won't want to pull down anything they helped to create. Thanks for responding and welcome to myLot

We usually put our Christmas decorations up the first weekend in December. The tree is artificial, so no watering required and I like that. This Christmas just isn't going to be the same though. My husband has decided that he doesn't want to be married anymore, but he's staying here at the house until the first of next year. It's going to be kind of bittersweet this year I think. :( But of course, I'm going to try to make the best of it and not let it get me down too much because that wouldn't be fair to our 11 year old daughter.

i guess i'll start putting up the decorations by the 2nd week of november..after the Halloween. I would just let the Halloween past first before putting up any Christmas decors. I think i am buying new decors this year. I mean, i will still be using the old decors, but i will be adding some new decors to the old ones that i have been using for years already!:)

I always put mine up the first weekend of December, this year being 6/7th. My husband just puts the fairy on the top of the tree at the end and goes off doing his own thing in another room (all the mess drives him mad) but me and the girls have a good time. First we put on Christmas music and sing a lot then get stuck in, my older daughter is great at placing all the lights on neatly, than the little ones put on the Christmas balls ect. I usually put do the tinsel and the final touches, but we all hang the chocolates on and have to buy a few more packs before Christmas day haha. If the animals (dog or cat) comes in the room, as you can see from my profile picture, they get into the spirit of Christmas too. Not forgetting the important part of Christmas we put out our beautiful crib, which the children love to prefer.

We always put our decorations up a week or so before Christmas Day. If you put them up too soon, I think it takes away the atmosphere the decorations etc create. You put the decorations up, get the kids to help you do the tree, then a couple of days later we start placing the presents under the tree. This way the excitement starts building steadily and you dont have to wait too long until Christmas day arrives. If you put everything up in November or whenever, the novelty has worn off by then because it feels like the decorations are part of your normal decor!
