Can somebody explain AC to me?

I've submitted a couple of articles to Associated Content. One has been published so far, the other one is still pending. I was under the impression that if you submitted an article as Exclusive, you got upfront payment for it as well as page views. The article that I submitted and has been published was Exclusive, but I received no upfront payment. I've been over the rules til my head hurts and I still am not clear on this "opt for upfront payment" that I see everybody talking about. My understanding was that if it was Exclusive and they accepted it that you got some sort of upfront payment depending on the value they put on the article. I have some more I'd like to submit, but I'd like to submit them in a way that I get the most financial gain possible.

I'm not sure since I don't qualify for upfront payment. but that is bec I'm not from US. I checked your profile and you are, so you should be able to get upfront payment. But my question would be do all articles submitted qualify for upfront or only selected ones?

That was kind of what I was asking. I did a search on the AC site and found one article that said Exclusive content and non exclusive were both eligible for upfront payment, but I didn't find a place to select the request for it. The comment above yours says that option is on the first page where you submit. I'll have to check it out the next time I submit one.

You can still get paid for nonexclusive, but usually it is less than what you would make for exclusive on Associated Content.

When you fill out the first form on the AC submit section, you need to select the option that is for upfront payment plus the bonus. I don’t think that you qualify for upfront payment either way unless you ask to have your article reviewed for it.

Oh, I didn't see that option. Their forms are like government forms, lots of fine print and legalese. I gotta get over my aversion to that. Thanks.

I signed up and joined AC awhile back. I had 3 articles published and made like 8 cents. I like the site and the ppl are very nice but there's not the one on one contact that there is here...at least not for me. I'd say give it a try and if you like it, stick with it. I've heard that some ppl make good money at it. As for the all the details with it, I'm not really clear on all of them...perhaps someone who uses them more can fill that part in. I'm not clear on them no matter how much I read. I've found articles written by AC members explaining a lot, and the AC blog explains a lot and there are a lot of faq's and instructions, and it seems to just go in one ear and out the other or completely over my head.

When submitting your article, make sure that you check upfront payment on the first page of submitting. Truthfully, there is not a great deal of difference in upfront pay when you submit non-exlcuisve rather than exclusive. My advice would be to submit your work as non-exlclusive and make sure that you check the upfront payment box when submitting. This way you can put your articles on other sites once AC publishes them. If you want to make the most money on AC, make sure you are writing about relevant titles that are searchable and make sure that you are using keywords properly. Keywords is how you are going to get page views on your articles. I know that when I first joined AC, I read over the forums on SEO and the blog articles that they had posted for new users. This will help you out a lot.

I have a couple of "aids" to help find key words and seo optimization. I knew there was supposed to be an upfront payment box somewhere, but I didn't see it. I'll have to look more closely next time I submit an article. I've already decided I'm not going to submit any more exclusive ones. The thing now is to get the word out. It's easy on e how, that seems to be a more close knit community, but AC is more competitive and not so friendly.
