NO- as a rule you do need the average 8 hours a night. Sooner or later the 4 hours a night will catch up with you and it will not be good. A few things that can follow little sleep include, that run down feeling that we all experience at some point. But you need to know that your immune system is going to wear down leaving you exposed to more illness- flu, colds, etc... not to mention that it will take you longer to get better. Lack of sleep also ruins your body's metabolism. So to be a nag- it will catch up with you and you really need to get back on a normal sleep cycle. Good Luck to you.

It's not okay to have a 4 hour of sleep everyday because It's hard to concentrate while working, we need to sleep at least 8 hours everyday to get relax and save energy the next day.

My yoga teacher said that it is ok to sleep only 2 hours every day if you do your meditation right. I am not sure about 4 hours sleep without meditation. Cheers!!

Hello,Sleep is a natural healer. It is a remedy for many maladies.disturbed sleep or lack of adequate sleep can be hazardous. It may cause life style disorders like diabetes, blood pressure and obesity. It may also contribute to forgetfulness, fatigue and other diseases. Therefore, don't missout on sleep and don't economise either. One must sleep at least 7/8 hours daily.Elderly people require maximum five hours of good sleep.Software professionals require maximum sleep of eight hours as they spend most hours in front of pc and this effects their eyes, which in turn leads to headache and other problems.Working professionals require more sleep as they have to remain alert and focused to optimise their performance.the sleep hours should be minimum 6/7.So do whatever you like.thanx.

I think 4 hours of sleep a day is really too little.I usually sleep at 1 in the night, and get up at 7 in the morning ,it is 6 hours,I already feel very tired during the daytime. This directly cause me of low energy in the daytime. And in additon, this is not beneficial to you health. So I suggest you not sleep so few hours a day.

Only if the person feels rested and that is all they can sleep, then it is good I guess. If they always tired and well making mistakes because they do not have enough sleep I guess is time to hit the overthecounter sleeping pills or to see a dr.

For your body to rest, you should have at least 8 hours of sleep each night to be able to function properly..

It's not really good for you. I see other people have mentioned weakening of the immune system from this amount of sleep each night, but I can think of something more important. If you sleep for only 4 hours a night, you are denying yourself REM, which is the most important phase of sleep. Without REM, your brain can not reset itself each day and do the reorganizing that it needs to do. You can actually die if you DO NOT sleep at all for about 10 days in a row. Now, you're not going to die from 4 hours a day, but you will be making it very difficult for yourself. You might notice problems remembering things or having trouble thinking straight. Eventually, if you slept for 4 hours a night long enough, your body would be so sleep deprived that you would automatically hit REM as soon as you fell asleep, a mechanism obviously put in place so that you won't die from not getting enough sleep and giving your neurons a rest. This is how people in the military get used to sleeping for short periods of time and still are able to function. Their bodies naturally adjust to the sleep deprivation and reach REM faster than most people do. I think it normally takes about 3 or 4 hours to reach REM, so you are basically waking up as soon as or shortly after you would be reaching REM. If you don't want to get 8 hours, 7 hours is a good amount of time to sleep. I often notice that if I get an even number of hours of sleep liek 6 or 8 I feel groggy, but if I get 5 or 7, I feel great. Weird...

No, as everybody has said you need 8 hours of sleep for your body to function properly. If you feel revitalized with only 4 hours you should see a doctor maybe you have a different metabolism that functions in a strange way.

i think having a sleep for only 4 hours is really bad for your health. you probably may not notice it or feel anything yet but sooner or later, you will know what effects it has in your body and your health. we should remember that our body is not a machine. we get tired and need some rest to "recharge" and regain energy. haven't you felt weak yet? how long have you been sleeping for that short time? i just hope that you try to change that and if incase you are having trouble with your sleep, you better consult a doctor.
