The other day a volunteer from the McCain campaign claimed she had been mugged, and after the person saw her McCain bumper sticker, carved a "B" on her face. Now, she has confessed to making up the attack. Apparently, she's had mental problems in the past. This is really sad. I hope she gets the help she needs.

Really? I wonder how she got the black eye. She looked horrible.

I totally agree with you eery. she made a false statement to the police and not only that she wasted their time when they could actually be helping someone who is actually in trouble. Has she said why she did this? was it for publicity sake or does she hate Obama that much or is a little bit of both? whatever the reason, it is a crime to lie to the police and make false accusations and she should have to pay for her lies. glad you brought this to light because there are already plenty of Mccain supporters who are already using this "incident" to prove that all Democrats are violent.

I gotta say that I'm glad she confused because then maybe people will back off and just let the race continue with out problems. I wonder if the real reason she did it is because she knows that McCain is losing. I honestly believe if she did get away with such a crimeful lie that she was doing it to get Pity Votes for McCain. I read about that, I felt bad for her. It was never proven to be political, but who carved the "B" into her face, did she do it? Crazy stuff!

The "B" itself was the first biggest suspicious thing--it was carved BACKWARDS, and VERY neatly. Someone pinning you down and carving into your fact wouldn't be able to make such a nice and neat "B". But even more than that, the fact that it was horizontally flipped, makes it pretty obvious she did it to herself while looking in a mirror. Not too bright.

Sorry for her? No way. This may not have been political but it sure as heck was racist. I knew this story was a hozx, the minute I heard it and I have as much sympathy for her as I have for Susan Smith.(The one who claimed the children she killed were abducted by a black man.) I have no sympathy for these women at all.

And people were complaining about others criticizing her and believing the story to be false. I suspected she made the story up when I first heard it. Nothing made sense, and nothing added up. It was just a ploy to get attention, and make someone else look bad in the process. I don't feel sorry for her in the least bit. I hope she's punished accordingly.

She'll get the help she needs...help getting into the cell she belongs in for wasting the time of detectives who had other cases to solve. Filing a false police report is a serious enough crime without adding the racist factor to it. Too bad she was too dumb to carve that letter in her face correctly...she might have succeeded in creating the racial hatred she was hoping for.

Okay, there's no way anybody can say this was NOT political. Part of her hoax was that he attacked her because he saw the McCain bumper sticker on her car and carved a B for Barack into her face. That's absolutely political! It's a case of a McCain supporter trying to make one and by extension all Obama supporters look bad. I said this in another post on the matter when it was generally believed that her story was true: there are bad seeds on BOTH sides of the political spectrum, and anybody who tries to say the liberals are worse or the conservatives are worse is just asking to be proven wrong.

"there are bad seeds on BOTH sides of the political spectrum, and anybody who tries to say the liberals are worse or the conservatives are worse is just asking to be proven wrong." True. Those who go all out for this candidate or that one get carried away emotionally and seem to quit thinking. I'm sorry this happened and I hope no one makes a big deal out of it. (But they will. The media will have a heyday with it.)

It is sad that someone would do that to themselves. The picture looked horrid!

I hope she gets the help she needs too. What a nutty thing to have happen, but then again people who are mentally ill don't always have a lot of control over what they are doing. Thanks for this information. I hadn't heard about this situation until just now. Thanks for sharing it.

I am surprised that anyone believed that the B was carved by anyone but herself. It was backwards and the only way that would make sense was if she looked in a mirror while carving it. She may well be mentally ill and maybe the republicans paid her to pull a stunt to make the other side look bad. It just astonishes me how people were so keen to believe her story and no one questioned that backward B. This election is full of insanity so far. I will be very glad when it is over and done with.

What this woman did was despicable. As soon as the original story hit the airwaves, the right wing was touting this as proof of the violent radical ideas of the Democratic Party and Barack Obama. It fed into the bigoted hatred many, including Democrats, feel about having a person of color as President. When McCain put "Joe the Plumber" front and center, he was proof that Obama's policies would be harmful to their constituency. Then when it was learned that Joe WASN'T legally a plumber, that he DIDN'T have the right to work under his employer's license, that he was a tax slacker, etc, it was suddenly the Democrats' fault. HOW??? They didn't put him out there - McCain did!! Do these people not do background checks before they start using someone as an example? What Obama did was simply a "man on the street" meet and greet. What McCain did was raise Joe the Plumber to stellar status, only to have it come back and bite him in the a$$ - but, it's not HIS fault - it's Obama's for daring to talk to the man in the first place. Now that this woman has been shown to be a fraud with an obviously severe mental condition, the Dems are stuck not being able to defend themselves against the original onslaught because they will be accused of attacking a defenseless woman (much as she wanted people to believe she was when she first reported her self-imposed attack). The damage has been done and those who will never believe the truth because the original stories fit their world view better will continue to push the "violent radical" concept about Democrats....in particular, about Obama. I am so disgusted by what I see in this country right now. I feel almost like it's 1865 again. When are we as citizens going to GROW UP????
