What's your favorite type of oil?

I like vegetable oil and olive oil best, depending on what I am cooking. Certain oils are supposed to be healthier than others, but, sadly, I don't tend to keep track of those statistics... When frying I usually use vegetable oil blend, and when making sauces or something that only requires a small amount of oil, I prefer olive oil (EVOO). What are your favorite types? DO you have a preference? WHy? Does health play a factor in what you choose?

Hmm i am not really the cook of the house. My grandma is :P i know she mainly uses olive oil, vegetable oil, and sesame oil (my fav one). I like the aroma which sesame oils brings. It lifts up the taste. I don't really keep track of the food statistics except for drinks and yogurt. Those need to be fake sugar free, and I mean no aspartame or splenda..those kind of crap that gives cancer. But anything else is good for me. As long as it's the most natural as possible and I just eat with moderation :) So if u haven't tried yet, buy a bottle of sesame oil. We usually buy it in asian stores.

Mmm, yes I forgot about the toasted sesame oil I have, but it's so pungent and potent I only ever use a few drops and mix with another type of oil that isn't so strong in flavor.

My favorite type of oil has to be a toss up between Extra Virgin olive Oil and Essential Balance 3-6-9, a certified organic oil blend made by Omega Nutrition. It is delicious. This oil is a mixture of sunflower, pumpkin seed, flax and olive oil. I prefer to cook with olive oil and enjoy the essential oil on my rolled oats, wheat and barley mixture, on potatoes and for use in salad dressings. Olive oil is my first choice for a salad dressing base however. Health does play a huge factor in the type of oils that I choose to use. I also take herring oil in gel caps. After taking for over two months it apparently starts to work as an anti-inflammatory which is good for me because I have spinal problems.

I prefer either canola oil or olive oil. Both are very light oils and are heart healthy. I do try to cook healthy as much as possible. I will use vegetable oil when I have to but would rather not.

I do look at the health facotrs involved with cooking oils. Ever since i have changed my diet to more healthy conscious cooking. I predominantly use unsalted butter to fry anything and I use EVOO quite a bit and I use canola/vegetable oil sparingly. This has helped me keept weight off and I am sure other healthy benefits are attached with this.

we used to utilize ordinary cooking oil but now that my mom has a cholesterol problem, the doctor advised her to use olive oil..according to her physician, olive oil can reduce blood pressure, restrain the growth of some cancers, diminish the harshness of arthritis and asthma, help your body maintain a lower weight and help people at danger for or with diabetes.. so it's best if we always opt for a healthier option..

We are from the land of coconuts... So we use Coconut oil mostly! It's yummy! Another major one using is SunFlower Oil, which is cheaper and cholesterol free. Some cases we use sesame oil and for some non-native dishes with Mustard oil. We use vegetable ghee in some special dishes or to polish some kind of bread. Rarely we use Palm oil. I never used olive oil, will give a try.

Hi friend,I was using seasame oil for cooking but now I cook in sunflower oil or rice bran oil.The doctors say that we should not stick on to one particular oil.We should change oils each time we buy because each and every oil has their own advantages so we should include 2 or 3 varieties and we would get all the minerals and nutrients needed for our body.Yes definetly health plays a very important role in whatever I choose for cooking. Thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.
