I'm studying at a second-rate university ,and I often feel inferiority when I meet a famous university student, because I use to think that they are students of prestigious universitys, therefore ,they are certainly smarter than me. I often tell myself that I can also be excellent as long as I work hard. But, unfortunately ,I still be self-contempt especially when I work with a famous university student!

Hey,buddy.I graduated from a obscure college, but now I am reading for my Master degree in USTC.So trust yourself, you can do better as long as u labour for what u want. There is an old saying,"there is a will, there is a way".I think u can achieve success one day if u believe yourself and step to u goal one by one.Up your head, tell yourself,"I believe I can fly",and then just do it,u will seccess.Good luck.

Remoteamber Firstly welcome to myLot. I am sorry that you feel that you are second rate because your university is not regarded as one of the leading ones in your country. My first question is why did you go to university at all if you do not feel that you are sufficiently able to achieve a comparable degree? Secondly, does the "famous" university student look down on you or treat you as their inferior? You have a wonderful opportunity in being able to attend a university at all. You should make the most of it and be reassured that you are every bit as accomplished and intelligent as you colleague from the so called "better" university. If you were not, you would not be at a university at all! P1ke

I am sorry to hear that .You should not think of that .The university you are studying does not equals to say that you are not so excellent as others who are studying in the famous university .It can just refer to the past ,maybe just because you did not tried your best when you studied in your high shcool .Now ,what you should do ,is just to try your best to improve your situation .Opportunities are equale to everyone ,It is not too late to catch up now !Come on ,believe in yourself !

This is something which I can really relate to. Before this, I used to study in a not-so-famous university out of town. The students there were average, the number of students was very very very low and it just makes me feel down. I could not find any friends who were motivated to really study and learn. Now, in my degree programme, at least I am studying in a not-so-bad university where there is considerable amount of prestige. However, talking to my high school friends, I often feel a little down because they are at some other part of the world studying in the best of the best university the world has to offer. I do think sometimes, what is in them which is not found in me? I can sincerely say that I do work hard, but I guess I was destined. I feel for you. Here's something you can hold on to. It is not where you study, it is about what you learn. You can be in the worst of places, but you could still be better than those who graduated from the best of places. It all comes down to the effort that you put into your studies. Cheers :)
