They say, that if your scalp itches after you have washed it, it means that your hair is growing. Is this true? Sometimes, if your scalp itches, it is because your hair needs washing. But, what if you wash your hair and your scalp still itches, and there is no dandruff...

No, If your scalp itches after you have washed your hair, It does not mean your hair is growing. Your scalp if itching because. You are not rinsing out the shampoo properly. You might have dandruff or psoriasis or the chemicals in your shampoo and conditioner are burning your scalp. Some people can suddenly develope allergys to hair colours, shampoo, conditioner and other hair products that they have been using for years. You could try a T-gel shampoo or a medicated shampoo. There is also a clear shampoo available that help an itchy scalp. I am not sure of the name, but ask at the chemist for it.

It might be that your shampoo or conditioner is to strong for your skin. You could be allergic or it could be drying out your skin.

sometimes the shampoo itself does that to me-which usually means i'm allergic, that's it for that brand.i'm very sensitive to the coloring/perfume they put in hair treatments.

Hi cream97, When your scalp itch, it maybe that you are washing your hair far too much and you scalp gets very dry and starts to itch, you need natural oil so cut down on too much washing hair. Tamara

Yes, that is true, but I only wash my hair once a week or every two weeks.. Lately, I have been washing it every two weeks. I do plan to start washing it every 10 days, instead.

I never knew about that growing hair thing but i'm pretty sure it itches because of improper washing and it caused dandruff. Well, in your case, though, consult a dermatologist for proper medication and stuff. :)

I've had that happen to me one time and it got to be so bad that I had to see a doctor over it. He prescribed some tar shampoo which helped a great deal but it made my hair so heavy ladden so I'd wash my hair in the stuff and then use regular shampoo to get the heaviness out. I had to be careful to not get the itchy spot the second time around shampooing so that the prescription stuff could work it's magic.

hi cream 97 my scalp doesnt itch after I wash it, so must be an allergy to your shampoo, I always use Herbable essence and never have any problems with it. If I go a long time without shampooing my head might itch. But I would look for an allergy if it itches after you wash your hair.

you may not be getting all of the shampoo or conditioner out of your hair which is making your head itch

Yes, that is why, I would rather someone else wash my hair for me. That way, I can become lazy, and get all the gunk out of my hair from someone else..

try switching shampoos.. you may have had an allergy to one of the million ingredients.. or maybe you had a scratch on your scalp and the shampoo sank into your scalp through the scratch and irritated it.. i take forever rinsing and some times it happens to me too..

Yes, hair needs to be washed when your scalp is itching.. But what if you have already washed it, and your scalp and hair is clean.. and it still itches... Then what then?
