Do you believe in amulet or talisman ("agimat" or "anting-anting")?

There are many of these so called amulets sold in front of Quiapo church. But I remember when I was younger (many, many years ago..heheh), I bought this "Tahrani's Talisman" via post from a "mystical products" store somewhere in Manila. It claimed to bring good luck to those wearing it as a pendant. And because I was intrigued or fascinated by anything related to "mysticism" or "occultism" that time, I gave it a try. You know what? I felt "powerful", exuding with confidence and all and actually experienced a series of fortunate events..heheh..(I know it's just psychological akin to placebo effect). Anyway, a classmate of mine touched my talisman one day (a no-no, according to the instruction booklet because it will lose its "efficacy"). I forgot the whereabouts of that talisman since then. I must have thrown it away or something. Looking back, I find it funny and weird that I bought it. How about you? Do you believe in amulets or talismans for good luck or protection?

They'd said Pacman had an amulet that is why he is invincible, well if someone is a hardcore fan of Ramon Revilla Sr. then they might believe but I don't.

Right. Perhaps, I was also influenced by Ramon Revilla, Sr. when I saw his movie "Pepeng Agimat" back in the 70s (I was in primary school then..yayy...long, long time ago). One of his amulets there was the (strands of) hair from a "tikbalang" (half-horse, half-man monster).

I do not really believe in agimat or anting-anting... especially when they can be bought in public places... if they are true... then a lot of people can be considered as invincible... but i believe in the good luck some amulets bring... especially when they are given as gifts... When there is no money involve... the more luck amulets and talismans can bring to a person... so i would rather just wait to be given one... rather than me buying one in the store or at Quiapo...

I don't know if it is true. I only watched of some of those in television. The man strike the other man with a sword and it has no effect, no blood. I don't know if I will believe. I also went to Quiapo when we had a documentary film. I saw a lot of amulets there and "mga pangontra". Like the baby alligator's bones a teeth of snake etc. The lady told us that it is a luck and others are "pangontra" to the bad spirits, aswang , maligno and even enemies.

I don't believe much in lucky charms, amulets or talismans anymore. I'm trying to grow out of the the belief in it. I was fond of collecting talismans and lucky coins before but I found out these are more like mere ornaments after all.

When I was younger, I believed in the same thing. Funny but true. It was a little kept secret. But now, it's totally different, I just have to have strong faith to make things happen.

I am a Catholic and it's an insult to God to believe that aside from him, there are inanimate objects that I put my faith on. Some people say "better safe than sorry" but the Scriptures also say that the lukewarm (those who do not choose a side, either God or NOT God) will not be spared from punishment on judgment day. On a less serious note: They look hideous. And after all the progress in science, it's really interesting why even the learned believe in such things. And just to avoid any unguarded comment: rosaries or crosses are not amulets. Those who "treat" them as such need to learn that they are not. Put it this way: if you raise a cross against a bus coming towards you to crush you, it will not miraculously swerve the other way because you did so. It's as good as raising a rock. Holding tight on a cross to help yourself raise your spiritual consciousness is another matter. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

So, I guess Quiapo church is not doing a very good job in warding off demons because those things are sold right in their compound. Hehehe

i also have that so called talisman or amulets the first time i have read your discussion i have been so aggressive to ask how did you usually take care your amulets, because somebody says amulet has latin oracion or prayers before it would effective to the wearer..i really dont expect, but i been concious to your discussion and want to know anything about how,, if you do.. please do share to me any idea you know how you threat your amulet, because i dont wear my amulet..because its should not be seen by others,,but wearing a necklace having a pendant and not should be shown by others is..useless cause wearing necklace is naturally should seen by others..its been one of the question that stock on my mind..please share to me how,,thank you..

dont ever use oracion in any case... that is your mistake.. remember in any action there is reaction.... latin oracion is very powerful to handle if you dont know the exact knowledge.. it is true that all the amulet has there own latin words or oracion on it.. but you can use them with out the oracion but not 100% of course... and oracion is word that you call the spirit to summon.. like i said in every action there is reaction of course if you call them there is exchange or should pay for it... the best amulet is to call God because all the magic or power in this world is belong to Him... yah i have some as well and some oracion but i never try to use them..

I had this tahrani neclace also when I was younger, probably high school.I bought this in Quiapo. as far as I can remember it was Saint Peter in Borja building, a building that is very old. The amulet came with prayers and invocations that you will recite every night for 9 days. and it had restrictions that you dont bring it to bars and motels, whereas its not a so sacred place for a sacred amulet.Well, as I believed it, It gave me fortune in other ways, depending on how you want your fortune and destiny. back then when I was younger, of course I want to be in a rockband and be popular...and it happened! although in just a short while. popular in a way, high school girls came by.because that is how I wanted it! Im not into winning lotteries and all that stuff to be rich that time. that's all that I wanted to be... to be popular.I'm not really a goodlooking person, plain faced as I rate myself, in high school I was just an under rated student whereas popular matinee idol personalities are roaming the highschool ground. but this amulet gave me strong personality and magnetism to the public. because that is how I wanted it! Ifeel that everything is going my way. the amulet was not really attractive when you look at it... but one time I was wearing it, there were two or three people notice how nice my pendant is. I was surprised they notice it first! as a careless person,I lost this and I dont know what happened to this pendant. If given a chance I will go back and will get another amulet like that. I know others will not believe this, but I think sometimes it works. there are lots of amulets there for sale and some are too good to be true... but this Tahrani amulet is waay waaaayback, when amulets are not being sold commercially yet! He is right when he said.. you should not let anybody touch this, and don't ever wear it when your showering or swimming or you lose the power of it.. or else start another 9 days straight of prayers and invocations all over again. well it's up to you people, if you don't believe it. but it works on me. thanks, just sharing my experience with it
